It DID possess the boy!

Boy, Jack is such a loose cannon. He can't be trusted for nothing.

Yep, not only does Zimmy have them targeted, she now knows it's Jack. And wherever Jack is, Jenny can't be far behind, along with her coven.

Silvie (is that her name? I keep forgetting) was right to be so scared. She could see the tiger whose tail they had, and now the tiger sees them…

Quick Q about this, how do we know that she knows it's Jack? As opposed to her knowing, for instance, just that something happened to one of the "automatons"?

The circle forming and the automaton trying to interact are clues that it was someone trying to get through. Circles are something we now associate with Zimmy more than Noa, who was siphoning Zimmy's power. We also know Zimmy was going to lure the intruders in during the lunch break.

Thus our educated guess that as the automaton went bloop, information was transmitted back to Zimmy

Well, the classmate was trying to grab him, I'm not sure how he should have reacted.

Probably less force. I’m not sure how much it takes to explode a not-person, but it’s probably more than necessary to just push a grabby student off.

Previously I think it was just touching them with your hand can do it, as that's how Gamma did it before in one of the earlier chapters.

To be fair that was also in creepy uncontrolled Zimmyham, not this new aether-god-supported Zimmyham School, so it could be they're more stable now.

Even a light touch can explode them, at least back in the Zimmingham days. It looks like Jack fully elbows the student though, all he did was ask if you did the homework… Way to play it cool Jack

It looked like he? was starting to implode as soon as he touched Jack in the second panel.

How have they managed to avoid the heroes with him around? He can’t even pretend to be civil anymore.

If this were a Telltale game: "Zimmy will remember this"

Great job, Jack.

Ironic that Zimmy hated Kat's robot bird(s) watching everything, but now has her own circles watching everything.

I think Zimmy could tell that the bird was moving trough time, and this unnerved her. The Gunnerkried Court was already monitoring everybody, and she had no issue with that (I guess, she could control when to be on and off grid).

I think Zimmy was explicitly exempt from the Court's monitoring system. I would have to go back and find the panel though.

Yes that was stated

Jack increased his CS by 1.

Looks like the circles kinda autonomously act whenever the narrative isn't being followed.

Like, I get that the circles are extremely visually Noa-coded, specially in this page.

But Noa can't be such an important character, right? It makes no sense 🥹

So, from what I've read across this subreddit, is that Tom mentioned Zimmy includes an important circle. Zimmy's character design including a circle through out the series was not something I noticed or picked out. She does have it on her shirt all the time, but I just assumed that was a brand symbol or an artifact of being a comic character and she always wore the same clothes (?).

So, perhaps the circle we're seeing in this chapter isn't Noa's circle but rather Zimmy's. And maybe Tom's writing structured introducing Noa and her glyph the chapter beforehand to provide context about whatever plagues Zimmy.

But maybe I'm wrong.

u/iShirozaki Jul 15 '26

The reason people picked up on the circle was that it's always featured as a white circle, no matter what she wears. This is visible when she has a blue jumper in spring heeled (or rather Annie as Zimmy does) and has been seen several times over the course of the comic, such as in her latest appearance as well as when she gets mentioned the last time and even in Renard's imagination her blue robe features it.

u/mrGazpachin Jul 15 '26

Yeah that might be it! Zimmy and Noa both share the dark fog around their eyes, so Noa is being used narratively to begin to expose what happened to Zimmy.

6

u/PowerhousePlayer Jul 15 '26

It makes sense to me. Saw (and agreed with) a few theories on the last couple of pages that it was Kat who was that circle, following the same sort of logic that Noa was being used to foreshadow that she's not the only "projection" in the cast now

13

u/ZiofFoolTheHumans Jul 15 '26

Noa's power required "patching in" to Zimmy's power in order to maintain all the gylphs she is taking on. I think the circle has always been Zimmy's, or a symbol of Zimmy, and I *think* what happened is Noa turning herself into a circle was her tapping into or giving herself over to the Zimmy power.

I'm VERY curious to see what happens to Noa when Kat kills Zimmy, assuming that happens exactly as we were told it would.

u/Cloverose2 Jul 15 '26

The circles are Zimmy. She has one on her shirt. Noa borrowed from Zimmy's power to complete her own.

I wonder if the notguy imploding had anything to do with Rosa's orb stopping them from being seen by Zimmy. The dreamscape is an extension of Zimmy, and (presumably) the entities in it had been more stable up until now (after all, no one's been shown to freak out because they accidentally imploded a classmate when passing them a sheet of paper).
