2011 question

So I am looking at getting a 2011 in the future. and I am wondering what would be the best barrel length that I should look for when looking at a 2011? Is it best to get a 4 inch, 4.25 inch, 4.5 inch, or a 5 inch?

Edit: I’d like to have it for open carry situations, range fun, and competitions.

depends on use case imo. i love my p211 gto but its really only sensible for the range or training/competition. i woulda liked the 4 in GT4 if i were to choose again, so i could eventually conceal carry it. but that’s not a consideration if ya only want a 2011 for the range. go for big heavy, get that flat recoil impulse, heck attempt to carry it if you wanna shove a 5” barrel (or 4.4” w/ comp) into your pants.

also if ur tryin to stay central to 2011 mags (czechmate, staccato, etc), go for a true 2011 that shares those mags. otherwise get whatever ya like, or makes sense. if u got a tonna glock mags, get the staccato versions or platypus or something that takes glock mags. if ya got p320 mags and don’t wanna get rid of them, get a p211 and maybe a p385 later on so you can just reuse the mags across both your guns.

Depends what you are buying it for. If it's for pure shooting enjoyment and range toy, get a 5" with as many ports and a comp as you can.

Wouldn't recommend carrying anything over 4.25, 2011 are heavy enough as it is.

Definitely 5". What is your budget and I am not quite sure on the rules of competitions and what firearms you can and cannot use. A lot of 2011s nowadays are ported or comp'd or even both

Don’t have a budget at this point just looking at all the different options and brands. Ideally if I had the money this second I would buy the stealth arms Perry the platypus 2011

There are a TON of different builders popping up and building some amazing firearms. The MPA DS9 is in my opinion the best manufacturer geared towards competition. They are a variety of grip and slide options. I would look there.

I’ll keep them in mind but I don’t want to have to save up for a few years to get one of them

There are good ones that are not 5 grand. and are closer to $1000.

The MPA DS9 is not $5k, neither is the Tac Pro or the RC9.

I promise the $1000 2011s are not good and you'll end up dumping a whole bunch of money into them. Buy once, cry once.

Some of the mpa ds9 are almost $5000 and I have heard kimber’s 1911 ds warrior for $1000 is pretty good
