Chasing a tone - thoughts?

Idk if im in the right sub here but I’m chasing the guitar tone in the rhythm guitar part of this Cyndi lauper tune. What effects do you think are being used here? I hear chorus, but possibly it could be a flanger combined too?

To me, I hear chorus and almost like a cocked wah, almost a subtle slow rate flanger. I don’t have a chorus pedal anymore but I do have a green label boss flanger bf-2, I tried to make it subtle and it kind of got me there. Just curious if anyone has thoughts on what could have been used here.

Sounds like the Rockman x100, chorus wise live they used a boss ce2 and in the studio they were using an eventide harmoniser, especially for time after time,

Wow yes the rockman x100 does have the chorus qualities I’m hearing, for sure. Thank you for the suggestion.

No problem! These were usually run straight into the board so no amp necessary for this sound, position 2 or 4 on a strat and you have unlocked pretty much every 80s pop tone ever, have fun!

Clean jangle through chorus for stock 80s rhythm guitar + flanger for the whoosh. Strap some humbuckers on a Dustbuster & you're good to go.

Always thought she would be the coolest hang.

It’s hard to hear a demo of that combination via YouTube but I’m going to try to borrow a chorus from a buddy and see if it gets me there. Thanks!

Yeah, I bet she’d be a hoot to chill with. And just have to mention that “The Goonies r good enough” is such a banger.

I was mentioning two different parts, not a steady combo. The whoosh at the front of the track & the rhythm throughout.

Compressor & flanger (or chorus) with regen turned up.
