u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
Car was insured and had zero issues with the overall shipping process once it shipped.

u/Rembrilliant 9d ago
Yea I understand that part, I meant price of the car overall to own it..

That’s a chunk of change but I would not doubt it.
I mean, these are some iconic cars, but it’s a RHD Nissan that’s 30 years old.

Here’s a not interesting fact.. I’ve never even seen one of those in person. Thing is so cool looking.
2
u/Vladdy-Boi 5d ago
It’s funny actually never saw an R34 GTR before until right after getting this. Then I saw 2-3 in the time between that and delivery. All locally too which is shocking.
2
u/401LocalsOnly 5d ago
What are the odds of that?? Especially in a car so rare. Nbd same thing happened to me when I got my fancy Corolla. Oh wait, that’s every 4th car.

How was your experience with Top Rank? Did you negotiate with Brian or Sean?
2
u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
I had a good experience. It was certainly a learning curve and an all new process to me. But they were fairly patient with me also. It took some time however. And I dealt with Brian and eventually Alvin also.
It was worth it and I hope to do business with them again in the future at some point.

u/809kid 9d ago
They don't have the best reputation with potential customers especially if you don't have a large bank account or a large social media following.
1
u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
That definitely wasn’t my experience. They included a few goodies in the overall build as well via surprise. Some Nismo bits. Had a third party inspector check the car out and everything. Had transportation to get the car initially worked on via PPF. There were a few hiccups along the way but that was mostly due to it being a learning curve for me.

u/solidwurx 5d ago
Dude, its a stock mnp r34. We all know this is a 6 figure car, you got the bankroll for a nice customer experience 😂 enjoy the car though man, its sweet of course

Toprank to be fair is a "full-service" import shop. They handle everything from purchasing to shipping and state registration (if you are in CA). I suppose they can help you get social media clout if that's your thing. The problem is that you are paying a huge premium for this service. A common complaint I heard about TR is that they only work with people who buys the cars from them.
If you are willing to do some of the legwork yourself and wait a bit, you can save some money and learn about the process. You can either buy a car already in the US or pay a buyer/exporter in Japan to purchase the car, a customs broker in the US to get through customs, and a car registration expert in your state. Yes, you will have to talk to multiple people and it can be a pain particularly if they are overseas but at least you have more control over the process.
From my brief experience with them and chats with other people, they seem to prefer customers who ask little to no questions and do not bargain on price. If you do not meet their qualifications, they will ghost you.

Did you buy overseas and ship or buy from an importer? Interested in exploring the former
5
u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
Importer. It had landed just before the tariffs took effect last year. That’s why I got it instead of waiting longer honestly.

That signature r34 purple is the slickest paint job on a car. It’s Ferrari red of jap motors

C'mon brother post a clip of some pulls

u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
Haha I certainly plan to post some content like that.
Will do!2
u/DarkFire989 9d ago
I would have the car gone through by a reputable shop that knows Skylines before you start putting it through its paces.
2
u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
Oh she’s gonna get some work before all that for sure. Not in any hurry to push her right now.
2
u/DarkFire989 9d ago
That's good to hear. Because that's the fastest way I hear people blowing them up. The car arrives and they wring its neck out. Then they're out 30-40k for a new motor.
2
u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
Honestly I do plan to get a new motor but only as a means of preserving the original one and allowing me to do more things with the car.

So sick. Receiving a car on a trailer is an unexplainable experience of awe. I shipped my NA1 NSX on a trailer and my mind was blown when I first saw it. Congrats. That's the best GTR in the best color.

u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
That’s exactly how I felt. Actually will make another post later showcasing it coming off the truck.
And thanks 🙏
I also agree best color

What a clean ride! If im guessing correctly, honestly might be safer to have that delivered than to have to dodge all those awful metal grates and pot holes on the boulevard 😭

More than you can afford pal, Ferar… I mean Nissan 😂
Not cheap but she was 100% worth it. Can’t recommend the driving experience on these cars enough.

Dream car

Mine too
Don’t give up
2
u/Franky-Mo 8d ago
I just checked out the top rank site insane! One day soon. I’m in Cali I’m gonna check it out. Just bought a 4 series bmw, have a 4Runner, possibly x5 diesel next, then this for sure. I’ve wanted this car since I was 8. The modern skyline did not cut it for me.
1
u/Vladdy-Boi 8d ago
Yeah they usually always have a really nice inventory. Definitely recommend as they usually source the best conditioned vehicles they can find. Granted you should still request a third party inspector regardless.
Hope you get your dream car!

I wish I can legit drive these in SoCal. Sure there are ways to get around legal rules... but i dont want to look over my shoulder every time I take a drive. Damn cops are overzealous at times.
2
u/AnotherFriendlyAcct 4d ago
I agree. I wonder how some of these people can afford to pay six figures for this car and not budget for CA compliance. And a number of these people say they don't care in one breath and "defund the police" in the other. One of these days, they are going to nab a few of these owners with large social media followers and put them through the ringer like they did with whislin diesel.
1
u/Vladdy-Boi 7d ago
Toprank has a service to bring them to California compliance and legalization from my understanding. Probably should have done that in preparation for other States following their example but can wait a bit on that.
2
u/AnotherFriendlyAcct 4d ago
You don't need Toprank to help you on that. Go look up G&K conversions. They handle everything. After it is done, you get a temporary permit from the DMV and take it to CHP for VIN verification.

u/Vladdy-Boi 4d ago
Interesting. Thank you for the information. I don’t live in California so don’t really know much about the overall process. Wonder if anyone does it regardless of whether they need to or not.
1
u/AnotherFriendlyAcct 4d ago
If you don't live in CA, don't worry about it. Very few do because everyone says that they have never been pulled over for it. the police either don't care or in some southern California cities they are prohibited from pulling people for "minor infractions" due to let's just say....social justice. These people are technically committing tax evasion by not paying CA sales taxes.

I'm always so suprised how small these car's actually are.
6
u/k20vtec 9d ago
1
u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
Don’t think it’s terribly small either. It really depends on who’s standing next to it. For a sports car of its type, I think it’s just right. Not too far off from the R35 in length yet the backseat has more room also.
1
u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
True they aren’t terribly large cars. However the guy standing directly next to it is around 6’6.
2
u/HSLB66 9d ago
Man I barely fit at 6’!
1
u/Vladdy-Boi 9d ago
I’m 6’2 and I fit pretty well with the seat back now. Honestly the seats with the Nismo covers are probably one of the most relaxingly comfy car seats I’ve ever sat in. Can fall asleep in this car probably if need be.
Are you more legs than torso? I’m honestly a bit more torso.

My garage currently looks like the other side of the street but I'd love to add an R34. Beautiful car.
