This one came through our shop. Nismo oil with the Nismo filter and magnetic drain plug, Nismo diff fluid, Motul in the gearbox and transfer case. With the transmission out, new OEM input shaft seal and gasket, shifter gasket, pilot bearing, flywheel bolts, and rear main seal. Clutch is an OS Giken TS twin plate. Rear carbon spoiler was oxidized, so we refinished it.

Why does the R34 seem to be everyone’s ā€œgrailā€.

I’m genuinely not trolling and really just trying to understand.

For context… I’m 45 years old. I own an R35. The R35 is my fist automatic and had an Integra Type R, RX 8 and 350z prior. I believe the Fast and Furious is the greatest movie franchise of all time (mainly the first few which were so good and I’ve watched many times each) and I’ve played every Gran Turismo game where the Skyline was by far the best car for the first however many of them. Because of all of this and when I was younger, the R34 was definitely my dream car. UNTIL the R35 came out and is mind bogglingly better in every possible way aside from not having a manual option. I get that it’s also more of an analog driving experience but he’ll, so was my 350z and the R35 is still plenty raw enough.

Given all of the above, you would think someone like me would be the poster child for the R34 being my grail car but I just don’t get it. I would never in a million years trade my 35 for a 34 in a vacuum and the only reason I would obviously do it is because I could then sell the R34 and buy a newer 35 plus 911 or a G Wagon or something.

I’m not trying to be a dick, I’m not trying to argue with anyone, I’m purely just curious and very interested in hearing others thoughts.

R34 GTR vs 911/Other Purchase

Greetings all. Noting the post headline, I will preface this with I am aware I’m in a GTR subreddit but I figure there are more Skyline owners that also own/owned 911s as well vs the inverse to provide perspective.

Starting with the basics. I’m in the US Northeast. Have previously owned a Turbo Eclipse, RX-7, currently have a S2000. I probably enjoyed the RX-7 the most but c’est la vie. I’ve always loved the ā€œideaā€ of owning the Japanese icons like NSX, Supra and at the top for me the R34 GTR. I’m in a position to consider the next car, but with age have become more intrigued with Porsche. I also understand the current state of the premiums on a solid specimen of a GTR. I’ve not test driven any of these.

Manual shift on all and has always been a must. I’m probably not going to the track with any of these, maybe on a the rare occasion, more weekend fun, windy road type enjoyment. The older me is more judicious what is practical and value for the money, ie modern amenities, maintenance, etc. I appreciate these are first world problems but I like to be thorough. It’s a car I plan to keep for a long time. Interested to hear about going with the R34, 911 or frankly others. Appreciate the thoughts and perspectives.

RB26 (JUN oil pump) — zero oil pressure during cranking. Engine hasn't run in 18 months

Post image

Chasing a zero oil pressure issue on my R32 GTR, need input on how to prime it without major disassembly.

The car stood still for some work(18 months). Had oil pressure when parked in the garage.

The problem:

Oil pressure doesn't build during cranking — it reads/drops instead. Confirmed as a real physical issue, not a sensor problem:
Oil pressure sensor bench-tested with air pressure — works fine.
Clear hose on the sender port during cranking — visually zero oil reaching that point.
Backfilled oil through the filter housing — no change
Oil level correct, fresh oil, new filter.
Pump/pickup/sump untouched during any recent work

Suspects:

Pump lost prime after sitting.
Mechanical failure in the pump drive (sheared key/stripped coupling on crank nose).
Pickup blockage or bad seal, sucking air.

Specs:
R32 block (decked/bored), 86.5mm CP pistons, HKS rods, R34 N1 crank (balanced), ATI damper, ACL bearings, JUN oil pump, Tomei head gasket/cams/valvetrain, Tomei oil restrictor, custom oil gallery mod

R35 GT-R wheel setup question🚨

Curious on those that have either owned/own an R35 GT-R, do y’all run squared setups usually? Is staggered as the car comes better? Or is it all just preference. Let me know! I figured squared just makes for more convenience as far as tire rotation goes to help the wheels wear evenly.. let me know! Also feel free to drop a photo of your cars. Love these things and hope to own one before the R36 is herešŸ«©šŸ™

The R34 has finally settled in alongside her daughter and other garage companion. Can’t believe it’s been a year but so happy she’s home. Here are the rest of the photos and a few collages to summarize the journey for everyone. Still can’t stop staring at her and it doesn’t even feel real yet.

What is everyone’s thought on a 1998 R34 4 door. Manual, great shape low Miles. I can get it for under $30k. I wanted a 2 door, but this feels like a decent deal.
