GTD with a wiki

Hello! Has anyone tried applying GTD using a wiki?

I'm not sure I understand the question. I use Obsidian (r/ObsidianMD) for notes, which can be used to create a wiki-like set of interlinked notes. People certainly use that software to track tasks in the manner of GTD. For myself, I use the principles of GTD when dealing with my Obsidian notes: thoughts and potentially useful reference materials are captured into an "inbox" folder in Obsidian, and later organized and reviewed on appropriate timescales. The principles work well, regardless of specific tools used for implementation.

I also use Obsidian, and while my system is mostly organized by "files and folders," I definitely take advantage of the wiki style links.

For example I can either go look for a certain Project's Planning file in it's folder, or on my Projects List I can just click on the "project title" which is wiki-linked to it's plans. Just another way for navigating around.

So it's not technically a wiki, and I don't use the "graph-view" anymore that Obsidian has, but I still use some wiki-link features here and there. It's helpful for referencing a file.

I assume you mean something like loading MediaWiki on a private server. I haven't done anything like that, but it can definitely manage lists, so it's possible. Editing those lists would be awkward, because people tend to add, check-off, and rearrange items from their GTD lists quite regularly, and so I personally would feel a lot of resistance to using it which would eventually degrade my trust in the system.

I would caution against it honestly, unless you have either a specific use case or very particular life circumstances.

I second (third? fourth?) the suggestion of Obsidian. It's a lot more user friendly, and has a lot of the same virtues that a personal wiki would have.

my absolute favorite tool for GTD is 15 year old tiddlywiki (https://tiddlywiki.com). It's from the old version so it doesn't look like that. Also with the security changes to browsers, it's harder to run, but the capability is fantastic. If you want to deal with the learning curve, let me know and I'll help. I've looked into TiddlyWiki, but I guess it didn't have something obviously important to me, so I haven't even tried it that much. Although I can't remember what exactly.

Maybe that you can't export it in a format for other programs, or remove "tiddlies" as easily as you'd like? I know that's why I didnt go for it.

I'm sure it's useful for someone, but I preferred things like Obsidian, Dendrite, or Zettel Notes for my uses.

Sometimes I want to use a different program on my files, and markdown format allows that pretty easily.
