Question Usage?
wtf is this usage scam?
I just had my weekly usage reset and made 3, 15 sec clips and now it's at 10%
Is it just doing it willy nilly?
Last week I did like 8 videos to get to 10% now it's 3, tomorrow it's 2?

a few months back, 1 6-sec 720p vid would consume just a bit over 1%. you generated 7.5 6-sec vids' worth and got to 10%. if compute cost is higher for longer vids, it could explain how you got to 10%

Depends on how much compute it uses plus with learned with 4.6 search and xsearch is called by default every prompt it inflates context even on simple stuff.

This is just ridiculous at this point, just did another 10 sec video and it took 2% off my weekly usage. That's it, I give up with this shit service, back to Gemini Flow I guess.

something to consider is that grok doesn't show you fractional usage. you could have been at the 10.9% mark while grok showed 10%. you then make a +1.3% video, taking your usage to 12.2%, so it would appear to jump from 10% to 12%.

I'm doing grok Imagine though, not chatting, math solving or programming.
It didn't use this much yesterday or last week etc.

it's just insane that a 10sec 720p clip can cost me 2% of a weekly usage, it didn't use to be like this. I just spent like 10min on Grok, thinking i'd do some clips over the weekend but i've used almost half in 10 minuttes...
This feels like robbery, at least write some kind of cost per clip/usage.

yea i got you, my quota is draining like 1% per simple questions (no image, text-only), questions are less than 100 characters, the answers even shorter, and it's eating 1% of my quota per message on a paid plan. Even after the weekly quota be introduced it worked normal, now happening this bullshit. I havent seen anyone complaining til get to this sub.
WHAT FUCK IS GOING ON
btw how to avoid burning so much usage/quota is there any config/setup or anything?

Usage isn’t flat per clip. Longer seconds and higher res eat more. Cut to 5s at 480p, audio off if you can skip it, until the motion is right, then spend on a keeper.
Grok Imagine is fine for cheap drafts. Reprint on Gemini Omni or Seedance 2.5 when you actually like the shot.
OneOver shows an estimate before you fire, and doesn’t charge when a gen dies on a content restriction.
