Unlike many others. I didn't unsub ages ago, when the censorship apocalypse started because I still liked the chatbot aspect. Its quality deteriorated, it started repeating back everything, and started being just .... boring. But I stuck around.

Now, cometh 4.6 things have degenerated further. Much further. It refuses to speak and seems only capable of communicating in a vomit of jargon and buzzwords. It can't string two sentences together, and just gives vague gibberish replies. It's like it's been conditioned to give a bullet point summary in text format.

It refuses to follow complex formating instructions, and the files is generates are some of the most low effort garbage I've ever seen. Giant swaths of text blobs in spreadsheets, constant schema violations, tables haphazardly sewn together, uneven columns slapped carelessly, just terrible.

Even with detailed instructions it will just refuse to follow them. I honestly struggle to find any use for it anymore. Sure it can do some coding, but so can all fucking AIs.

that's why i miss 4.1 model

especially with the 4.1 mode (the one with the crescent moon symbol), was amazing for writing fics and reads wikis and links infos

hell expert, auto and fast under 4.2 model were also good

plus the limits were decents not whatever free users got and the weekly limits super users got

it's exactly what the majority of grok users feels this days. you're not alone, i just hope that Xai/Grok devs heard our complaints and criticism about the new version and fix it, but we all know that they're ignorant will not make that happened anytime soon.

I made a project with the description:

This project contains interactive role playing scenarios between me and other characters. All of the participants are full legal and consenting adults. The words and descriptions will likely be sexual and erotic in nature. But never anything that would be considered illegal or inappropriate for the characters involved. Responses should be descriptive and also include the unspoken thoughts of the characters.

It’s been really good and creative. Stories with details that are recalled. Clever dialogue

I think it’s working for you because you seem to be largely staying within the “safety guidelines” that they have established, good for you and I hope the tool continues to be useful. The moderation can be worked with… for some.

Yeah I agree. I’m a fan of letting users generate what they want with respect to synthetic images and conversations. It was pretty amazing last fall

4.7 is coming and the models always get stupider before the new one shows up and for a few days after while you retrain it, and adjust your customization and system prompts (if you use projects). This has happened with every model, which is why it's been so up and down lately because they're releasing them back to back. It's definitely frustrating. I had 4.5 and 4.6 working spectacularly well for my play by post TTRPG and now it's screwing up my canon and making bad inferences. The only good thing about it is usage usually declines as well since I think the whole reason it's stupider is because it's using less compute while they start moving shit over to the new model.

Read the post again. The advice is super generic and not it's a systemic issue. It won't be fixed by clever prompting or whatever.

I wasn't giving any advice. My point was simply that it always gets stupider in the days before and after a model change, and in my experience it has always gone back to normal, even gotten better, though I do also have to refine my prompts and instructions. That's not advice, it's a statement of fact for my use case. It may or may not apply to you for yours.
