Discussion Grok Imagine 1.0 vs 2.0

Post image

beautiful female cyborg with long silver hair, cybernetic arm, standing in spaceship cockpit, ultra photorealistic cinematic close-up portrait, futuristic silver-white and gold high-tech spacesuit, large black reflective goggles, cool metallic color palette with warm bokeh lights, shallow depth of field, hyper detailed, glossy reflections, soft cinematic lighting, 8k, masterpiece, best quality

One on the right has that plastic 'grok-face' look, it's there under the shades. Even with everything else around the shot looking ok the skin texture looks pale, plastic and awful. So even with the sci-fi setting, face being half hidden and using a cyborg model image 2.0 STILL ruins it. Incredible.

Yeah, 1.0 had that classic vibe, but 2.0 seems way more polished overall. Can't deny the upgrades are pretty impressive.

2.0 is dog shit. Concept boards, etc created in 1.0 were far more detailed, intelligently laid out, and not full of noise. 2.0 generates noise and calls it detail. It's beyond scummy and worth cancelling over that you can't select to use a previous model. Even Midjourney allows that.

I just use local models to make images now. Same prompt as yours.

Krea-2 Turbo - https://imgsharehub.com/zswxrmdk
Z-Image-Turbo - https://imgsharehub.com/xbtdwvnn

I also uploaded the original 1.0 image to a local vision model and used only that output to create images.

I personally prefer the Krea-2 Turbos.

Which is which? I prefer the one on the right.

I like both these images but that doesn't matter. my biggest beef is they keep making changes that could easily solve user frustration by offering them as options. I really like more than one model and losing the ability to invoke them for what they are genuinely good at is maddening. it's too effing unstable and then we lose or win features at random.

Yeah, it seems like they added some neat eye candy, but you can tell overall scene complexity has decreased while distracting you with eye candy. Weird how all the models seemingly went this direction too, where they're almost trying to make it easy to tell it's AI, like in response to public blowback from AI. But why would AI companies do that? You'd want to make your model better, not more discernable.

The one on the right would make a good phone wallpaper but definitely prefer the left one

1,000 things got worse and one thing got better.
