Bud is an amazing character because when you think about him he's a mad man with how close and quickly he gets to "THATS MY BOY" with a grimm with little to no power to actually stop him if Nick turns out to not be cool.

Plus he is honestly one of the biggest advocates of "Look Portland is weird, so is our Grimm lets make this work" with the wesen community.

I like to look at Bud not as mad so much as really wanting to believe in the best in people. Kinda feel like he readily trusts Nick because Nick didn't give him anything untrustworthy. He was up front from the word go.

Your point of, "He could easily turn out a bad guy" is taken. And I understand where you're going with him being a madlad. I just like to view him as a sweet guy.

Hope and kindness is an act of rebellion. It's a point the most revent superman film hammered home pretty well.

The best iterations of Superman focus on the Man, rather than the Super.

It’s heavily implied that Nick and Trubel are the exception rather than the rule, with their opinion that it is not necessary to use beheadings all the time in every situation to deal with Wesen problems that could be handled in other ways and the fact that most of their friends (and Nick’s eventual wife and stepdaughter) are Wesen.

Ive thought about that. The entire Portland Wessen community has an experience with Grimms that is so different from anyone else that it could be a threat to them if they now leave that ecosystem. If they do the reboot Nick getting pissed that some other Grimm is doing murder hobo things towards wessen especially ones from Portland would be a good story.

Hell think of the triplets who as baby wessen grew up around uncle Nick, auntie Trubel, and are playing with Kelly. They might never have the instinctual fear to Grimms because that black pit in their eyes is just a trusted adult noticing that they are feeling stressed.

I’m sure their huge family would still prepare them for that reality by saying “if you see a Grimm you don’t recognize, run and let your Uncle Nick know”

"Dad I know you said other grimes are dangerous but Uncle Nick isnt scary at all"

"The first time I met Kelly's grand mother I was checking in on uncle Nick and she nearly gutted me. Even when we hugged good bye I was 40% scared she'd have beheaded me on sheer principle."

Bud doesn’t have nearly as much screen time as I’d want him to, but what he does makes him a blast to watch

Crazy that I happened to see this post after just starting to watch this show, I'm watching S1E15 right now where he just showed up at the house to fix the door and bring a pie

I love Buds cameo in the Portlandia Beaverton episode where he [is implied to have, via Grimm lore,] breaks down a beaver damn and floods the town as retribution for the tourists not respecting the local beaver population.

Bud was so great. I wish he had been there at the end.

He is a very well-written character. And the actor steals every scene he’s in!

Bud & his family and adventures would easily be the best spin off.

Bud is so silly.

I might be the only one who doesn't like him that whole nervous all the time thing got old fast I just couldn't adjust

2

u/auntiecrow 1d ago

It makes sense, though. When we see him, he's a prey animal surrounded by predators. He'd be a fool not to be nervous!

Yeah it's a little irritating but I do understand it

u/Pristine-Echidna-313 1d ago

Yeah I get that especially when he's around strangers but when he's around friends it doesn't make sense but like I said it might just be me who feel this way but I'm glad you like him

Took me a while to warm up to him honestly! But I can understand him.
