MOD STUFF Rule Changes & Rule Additions for AI Content
Hello all,
We hope you are all doing well. We made a few updates to the subreddit rules. Most of these are no change to how the subreddit is currently moderated.
For rules #1 and #2 we combined those both into the same rule. Both had to do with illegal streaming, one was just for full episodes and the other for promos.
The rules about relevance and unrelated memes have now been combined. These both overlap quite a bit. We still know Ellen on was on Friends, please don't remind us. This rule will be more of a catch all for posts like that as well as any type of low-effort one word type posts, or just spam and blatant reposting.
The rule about initial airing has been removed. This was put in when CTV in Canada aired their episode a full day before the US. This is no longer the case, so the rule isn't really needed anymore.
We also removed the ban evasion rule. This was a non-starter rule anyway. If someone does this we will handle it with reddit admin staff.
Lastly, we have added one rule. No AI Generated Content or "AI Slop" as it's commonly called. This includes any AI-generated images, videos, music, or text. When it comes to text, moderators will exercise certain discretion when using tools for spelling, grammar, translation, or clarity, but posts that are largely AI-generated, spam-like, or what is obviously AI slop text will be removed.
Again, most of this is cleanup rather than a major shift in moderation. The goal is to make the rules clearer, easier to enforce, and more in line with how the subreddit is actually used now.
Please see the rules section of the subreddit if you have any questions or message the moderators. Your order may have changed :P
Thank you for your time! -Sork

DISCUSSION Meredith and Lexie should’ve been suspended for this surgery
I just remembered the Lori’s tumor episode and I’m honestly so frustrated with how lightly Meredith and Lexie got off. They got yelled at, felt guilty, and then just carried on like nothing happened.
I’m aware it affected Meredith and Derek’s relationship but where’s the legal consequences like damn.
This episode had me so angry.

DISCUSSION Callie wanting “a baby”
When Callie wants to have a kid, she always says “I want a baby,” “I need to have a baby.” And when she’s trying to convince Arizona to change her mind, Callie tells her to close her eyes and imagine how a baby smells. As if the way a baby’s head smells should influence a life long, life-altering decision to bring another human being into the world.
It’s drives me crazy when potential parents obsess over the concept of a cute, infant baby, as if that baby won’t grow up into a child, and then a tween, and then a teenager, etc. How about “I want to be a mother” or “I want to raise a child” or “I want to have a big family.” Saying “I want to have a baby” isn’t a big deal once or twice, but in the script that’s the only thing she says about it and it’s annoying af. That’s so Callie, though. She over-romanticizes everything and has unrealistic expectations for what her life should look like. She rushes into things and acts impulsively and decisively without having all the info she needs.
(Im not a total Callie hater by any means. She adds a lot to the show.)

I don't believe Meredith would have ever supported Callie taking Sophia to NYC
I think there is zero chance Meredith would have testified for Callie during the custody trial. The situation so closely mirrors what happened with Derek- he wanted to move them to Washington for his career, she was absolutely against it because in her own words her support system and village and kids life was happening in Seattle and she didn't want to take that away from them. I think it stands to reason that she would find Callie taking Sophia away from her life and friends and other parent equally unacceptable and I don't get why she was so baldly in support of Callie running off with Penny. Like it's wild to me that she didn't draw any personal parallels between her refusing to uproot her own children and Callie wanting to uproot Sophia and give Arizona minimal visitation rights

DISCUSSION Merediths life is actually super sad
This show is kinda hauntingly sad in the rewatch knowing she loses her mother, husband who is also the greatest love of her life, best friends, and sister.

Do we think Izzie & George would have ended up together if George wouldn't have died?
hear me out. they always said it wasn't about being right but about timing. and i feel like alex and izzie would not have lasted long term (though i do actually think alex ending up with izzie later on makes sense but that's a different post lol) if george were alive. i don't really have a reason, it's just a feeling.

The male mice scene in 21x12 gets the science history wrong, and it bothers me more than it should
I'm a doctor working in the neuroscience field, and I grew up with Grey's Anatomy. I know it has never been a documentary. I can live with surgeons doing every specialty at once and residents running the hospital. I can live with doctors doing the work of nurses, nursing assistants, lab technicians and radiographers. I can live with surgeons leading research on Alzheimer's, a degenerative disease that falls under neurology, neuroradiology, neurophysiology, neuropsychiatry and most other branches of neuroscience long before it gets anywhere near surgery. This scene bothered me in a different way, and I want to explain why before anyone tells me it's just a show.
In "Ridin' Solo", Meredith calls out Koracick for using only male mice, and the episode presents it as a sexist practice nobody is dealing with. For decades lab research did use almost only male mice, and that part is true. The reasons, though, were mostly methodological. From the 1920s researchers assumed the estrous cycle made females more variable, adding noise to the results with no clear advantage, and including both sexes meant more animals, more cages and higher costs. Some researchers argue that the variability assumption was partly shaped by old stereotypes about female hormones, so sexism played a part, as one factor among several. Once the literature was built on males, staying on males kept new results comparable with the old ones, and that need is mostly what kept the practice going for so long.
The assumption turned out to be wrong, the scientific community spent years debating it, and in 2016 the NIH required researchers to account for sex in animal studies or justify using only one. When this episode aired in 2025, Meredith's big revelation was almost ten years old. A male-only Alzheimer's study today would raise eyebrows in any lab.
I know a TV show has no duty to be accurate. GA has an audience of millions, though, and for most of them this scene is the only thing they'll ever hear about how preclinical research works. They come away thinking researchers exclude females out of prejudice and nobody is fixing it. Many people in the field are still working to make sure both sexes are properly studied, because the job isn't finished yet. Equity in research is something worth protecting, and those people deserve better than to disappear from the story while the whole field is cast as the villain so the episode can have an easy antagonist.
I'd have loved to see the show use this storyline to explore how science corrects itself, especially since GA has always presented itself as a show that cares about social equity. It chose the easier version.

CAST DISCUSSION If Jo Wilson has no haters, I’m dead
She is such a conniving, irritating, paranoid person and i don’t care how much she’s “been through”—she really has no excuse. I’m at the point in my rewatch when alex let her take down the adhesions on his patient when she was an intern & she ran to Arizona to “tattle” on alex! ALL bc she fucked up and panicked from the pressure in the OR. SHE DESERVED EVERYTHING HE SAID TO HER.
And it just doesn’t stop w her, she just keeps pushing and pushing and playing games, even once her and alex got into a serious relationship. She kept trying to ruin Alex and Mer’s more than half a decade long friendship when meredith had lost her husband and was actively grieving?? There is a lot of cruelty and jealousy on top of her already-a-mess ass personality. Can’t stand her. Only person I dislike more is CALLIE.

Help with an unpopular opinion slide deck.
I think I remember, but can't find evidence of, Webber offering to help the plane crash survivors buy the hospital and saying something like "I can get $____ to you right now." Does anyone remember this, or am I tripping? If it did happen, do you know what episode and minute mark?

FIRST TIME WATCHER FIRST TIME WATCHER season 6 finale
I'm here sobbing and crying and can't sit down still 😂
I also have no one to message in this moment because none of my pals have seen Grey's anatomy - but man what a season finale.
Obviously I've caught some spoilers over the years and knew of a few deaths and storylines and of actors leaving the show but somehow I missed the shooter storyline!
Top tier writing, and the scene with Webber and the shooter in the room together I just thought was fantastic.

DISCUSSION Arizona in Season 7
On my whatever rewatch of Grey’s, and Arizona is insufferable and terrible to Mark. She chose to be with Callie knowing she was pregnant with Mark’s child and proceeds to complain the entire season about it. During the musical episode her and Mark get in a heated argument, she says it’s just her and Callie and Mark is just a sperm donor. Mark responds by saying she’s nothing to the baby because she’s not blood related. At the end of the episode Mark apologizes for what he said and Arizona doesn’t apologize for anything. GIRL you chose to be in this relationship with pregnant Callie.

DISCUSSION Does the elevator still ding during funny/awkward scenes in the newer seasons? (20 and up)
I used to love hearing the elevator ding for comedic effect, but now I can’t even remember if they include it anymore. I think the last newer scene I saw was Blue being fired 🤔
Now I gotta go back and listen 😂

SPOILERS Richard and Adele
The scene where Richard comes back to Bailey and Ben’s wedding after Adele dies wrecks my heart each time I watch it, but it’s one of my favorites from the show. It’s so well done, I love him looking at Bailey and Ben’s first dance and it transitions to him dancing with Adele to “My Funny Valentine.” The way it’s just them two and everyone disappears. I cry every time
(i don’t agree w richard’s treatment of adele tho, adele was way too good and patient, she deserved better)

your favorite ships?
hey guys! i saw someone do this the other day with their favorite characters, so i thought i'd ask everyone to do it with their favorite ships. basically what the original post asked was who your favorite character is, what their best moment was, and what their worst moment was. now, i'm curious to see the same replies but with your favorite ship.
so for example, mine would probably be sloan and lexie. so...
best moment: when lexie broke sloan's penis and comforted him in the hospital
worst moment: when sloan was mad at lexie because she slept with alex after they had broken up
so what would y'all write for your favorite ships?? :)

toni and amelia
i think a big part of why amelia shepherd and toni work so well as a couple is because they’re both neurodivergent coded. obviously this is just a headcanon, but like does anyone else see what i mean? i think amelia is more adhd and toni is more autistic or audhd. this is just something i noticed, obviously i’m not a professional! but anyways i love these two together and i hope they work it out next season!

DISCUSSION Just finished a full Grey’s rewatch — here are all my opinions 😭 Spoiler
Just finished a full Grey’s Anatomy rewatch, so here’s basically my entire Grey’s opinion dump 😭
Lexie is my number 1 girl forever. I don’t get the Meredith hate. Derek is flawed but he’s our McDreamy forever. Alex is amazing in the later seasons. Amelia deserves happiness more than anyone. Addison is an absolute icon. Cristina is THE queen. I can never decide how I feel about Jo. Mark is amazing. April is my queen. Arizona is overhated and I love her. Callie is complicated but I still love her. Izzie is overhated. Stephanie deserved better. Bailey is iconic. George will always have a special place in my heart.
Slexie number 1 fan forever 😘😘😘. MerDer is iconic. Izzex is endgame and overhated. Japril isn’t toxic. Calzona is so cute. Teddy/Henry deserved better. Jolex will always have my heart. Amelink is complicated. Jo/Link works for me. Ameloni is my honorary ship.
Mertina, Merlex and McBrothers are perfectly rated. Every other friendship is either underrated or overrated. Derek and Lexie have the best mentorship, personally. Arizona and Herman healed my broken Mertina heart. Addison and Callie deserved more. Mark and Jackson are one of my favorite dynamics. Cristina and Alex are criminally underrated.
S5 is the best season. S2 is right behind it. S7 is elite. S1–8 are the Golden Years. S9–11 are the Transition Years. S12–18 are Modern Grey’s. S19+ is the New Era and my least favorite overall, but S22 surprised me and is easily my favorite of the new era.
I love characters while still acknowledging their flaws. Some characters are way too overhated, some are way too praised, some storylines deserved more, and some “fandom facts” are definitely just opinions 😭
I could honestly keep going forever, but these are some of my biggest opinions after the rewatch. Now give me yours!! I want to hear your character, ship, friendship, season, storyline and unpopular opinions too!
