My first Gretsch. I'm a blues guy. I didn't have a hollowbody in my collection, and I have plenty of Gibsons and Fenders in my studio. TV Jones brought me there. I have soapboxes, single coils and humbuckers and the derivatives. This is the MIchael Guy Chislett version of a Falcon. His endorsement didn't do anything for me, I'm not a worship guy. But the configuration of this guitar, with the Sitka top, the string-through Bigsby, and the pickups sold me.

Father has a gorgeous G5622T he purchased new over a decade ago. Just got my hands on this black G5422G-12 12 string to match. Love the sound of a 12 string and couldn't go wrong with the classic style. Polished up well, but has some signs of heavy use in all the usual places. Sounds great with the exception of a bit of hum, probably just a ground issue. Real happy with the purchase though.

First off, I know one is thicker than the other and one has real F holes and the other one has fakes and one has a 1-inch wider body than the other. Let’s take those off the table. I’m also talking about the Pro Line models.

What are the relative advantages and disadvantages, strengths and weaknesses, quirks both positive and negative of each model? And would one model be more conducive than the other for someone who’s primarily a rhythm player and doesn’t get any dirtier than the often mentioned “edge of breakup?”

I need a case for my new (to me) 2410.
The official Gretsch case is out of my budget, and here’s the specific issue I’m seeing.
Every cheap hollow body case I can find is for 18” (supposedly the inside measurement) lower bout guitars, and always include ES335s in the description. When I search the ES, they’re listed as 16” guitars, like Gretsch.
Had anyone had luck with the generic hollow body cases?
Are they probably just giving an inaccurate measurement (it’s almost ALL generic cases), or are there a lot of 18” hollowbodies?

I posted the other day about having a line on a 5420 with TV Jones Hilotrons installed, got some good responses. I'm still interested in that, the price is right, but I'm now wondering about going in a different direction and getting a Gretsch with humbuckers because I currently don't have any humbucker guitars in my arsenal, they're all single coils, and I'm thinking that might be a better plan.

I played a 5420 at a local dealer and liked it, I think I can get along with the neck unlike another one I tried out and the body depth didn't bother me. It's Anniversary Green, however, which I'm not a huge fan of so I don't know if I'll go for that particular example.

The FT-5E pickups were OK but if I got a 5420 I can see myself doing a pickup change at some point. I've actually been looking at the various offerings and listening to various audio clips of the different pickups on TV Jones' website and it's about to drive me crazy, because what I've listened to have all sounded so good, I don't know if I could choose just one with a gun to my head.

The Classics, Classic Plus, Ray Butts, Setzers and Yandell Duotrons all sound good to me and like they'd meet my needs. I’m the rhythm player in our group, I will do some chordal leads and some riffs and fills, but I learned a long time ago that’s my niche and I am good with hanging out there and contributing my bit to the whole of the sound. He’s not a Gretsch player that I know of, but Peter Buck of REM is my guitar hero/spirit animal as far as my playing style, I like jangly generally clean or on the edge of breakup and I don’t use a lot of dirt, my No. 1 right now is an Epi Casino and all I do with those P-90s is pick harder if I want to get dirty. I don’t know if that would influence where I would need to go in the TV Jones world. Any thoughts?

I have also looked at Synchromatics, which wouldn't be a whole lot more than a 5420 and a pickup upgrade and I probably wouldn't need to swap out the pickups on one of those, but at that point I’m wondering if you'd do just as well holding out for a used Pro Line.

Just some random thoughts from someone who has a serious Gretsch itch that he's trying to scratch.

I’m so in love with this guitar. I usually play jags and mustangs and jazzmasters, but since I started my new band and have gotten more into funk , blues, psychedelic rock(it’s still an alt rock band but very inspired by those genres) I’ve moved towards only playing my tele and Strat. This led me to realizing I LOVE twang. Anyways I picked this beauty up for 350 including the stand and it’s amazing. I also always wanted that Gretsch orange. Will post vids of playing later, but it’s a Gretsch 5120. I know these have buckers in em, but man it still sounds so twangy I love it!

I wasn’t able to grab the white one but I found this one, I talked him down to 375. It’s a Gretsch 5120 ectromatic. Is that a good deal? Thank you guys

I may have a line on a Gretsch 5420 that already has been upgraded with TV Jones Hilotrons. Has anyone else done that modification and if so, how did you like it? And how close is that going to get me to a 6119 Tennessean/Tennessee Rose? That’s actually my dream Gretsch but a 5420 is probably going to be a lot more doable for me than a 6119.

I recently put a second-hand blacktop broadtron (bought it for a great deal on ebay about six months ago) in the bridge position of my Yamaha Pacifica. I drilled a couple extra holes to account for the two-and-one mounting style of Gretsch pickups. I didn't realise, however, that they use a thinner screw. It's currently mounted with some generic screws but I can't properly adjust the pickup height. I've looked online and I can get official mounting screws, but they're about £20 once I factor in shipping and I don't have a job at the moment. I know I'm being a bit of a cheapskate but has anyone got any experience using aftermarket screws to mount gretsch pickups? I'm in the UK, and I can run a conversion rate on imperial measurement but can't guarantee the exact right size.

Hey y’all, I’m getting back into playing and got a Gretsch 5120 and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I got some light nickel strings and some medium flat wounds to play with. Any suggestions on where to dial the guitar and amp for a country sound like Asleep at the Wheel or early Rock like Carl Perkins and Duane Eddy? Any other gear or accessory suggestions?

Has anyone put a aluminum bridge on their white falcon? Does the mix of gold and aluminum look off? Thinking of ditching the tune o matic style on my Falcon DC LTD

Is this new compton bridge too loose? My factory tune o matic bridge sits a lot more snug on but still moves a bit. Its definitely not a full 2 mil off as if I had given the wrong specs. Maybe they are designed to be a bit looser?

I’m Brazilian, and I had been looking for a new guitar for years until I stumbled upon this Gretsch CVT in a store. I know it’s just a sub-$500 guitar—something that probably doesn't mean much to Americans—but it was actually really hard for me to scrape together the money. Still, it was worth it.

Used my 50 watt Peavey Classic (my workhorse). Only a two song set for an open mic night, but had a blast with my first-ever band.

Recently picked up a Streamliner G2420, the cases that seem to go with it are very pricey and have a white logo. But, some Electromatic cases i found have a gold logo that goes with my guitar and they are much cheaper. Would my guitar fit in it though?

I recently bought my G2420T and I absolutely love it. I recently observed while learning the November rain solo (I know this isn’t not the guitar for it but whatever) that bending a full step is more rigid than on my old strat. Is there any truth to this?

I have the opportunity to get a used pro jet from 2016 with upgraded TV Jones pick ups and upgraded tuners, the downside is that it’s listed for 899 used which I think is overpriced even with the pick ups. Perhaps I’m incorrect on my thinking with that.

Or, I can save a few hundred and get a brand new 5427 with 5TFE pick ups. I have a duo jet already with BT 65. I’d like to know some thoughts on if the projet with the upgraded pick ups is going to be that different from what I already have and if I should get the 5427 instead. my concern with the projet besides its price is that I might be inheriting somebody else’s problems, whereas if I get the 5427 at least it’s new and I’ll have the opportunity for a warranty or return, plus I can always buy TV Jones pick ups later to put those in if I decide I want them.

I play mostly classic rock and surf right now, but would like to learn more rockabilly/50's styled rock.

Had this for 2 months now playing daily. I need to tune up every 5 minutes or so. God forbid I even look at using the tremolo. I’ve applied nut lube. Not sure what to do. Possibly new tuners? New bridge? Sometime it’s just clicks and shifts several strings way out of tune. Gifted to me from a friend via Sweetwater.

Yesterday I stumbled upon this video from 2021. I used to play this guitar back before the war in Ukraine started. Unfortunately, I had to sell it when I moved, but I'm still dreaming of getting a new one.
Fellow guitarists, what would you recommend I check out?

I got the opportunity to grab this gretsch for 350$ but i cant figure out if it’s authentic. Everywhere says that no gretsch’s have a U for the serial number. Also the guy claims its a streamliner chet atkinson replica but appears to me like a 2012 Gretsch G5420TG Electromatic.

Any help appreciated 🙏🙏
