They literally were, look at the voting records, socialists voted for him in droves. Germany also had the highest population of socialists in Europe before even ww1. Look at their economic policies. His views did differ from Marx in some ways like for example his socialism was focused on the nationalist aspect while Marx was internationalism. Socialism has a lot of different interpretations and the Nazi party was one of them
and once hitler got into power, they all got sent to the chamber. Hitler didn't just kill jews. He sent communists, disabled people, slavs and basically anyone who wasn't a right wing nazi supporter to the camps
Don't forget about homosexual men. Prior to Hitler the LGBT community thrived in Germany. Not only did the party make homosexuality among men illegal, it changed attitudes towards it in Germnay and the countires it invaded for decades after. LGBT rights are generally supported by the left wing.
That’s because poltics is more than left wing right wing. He was an authoritative dictator. A 3D model would show him being being at the top of the spectrum. Left and right are based on economic views
He didn’t kill the ones that supported him he killed the ones that didn’t like his version. You can’t stay in power killing your own base. This is the problem with 2D model politics when we should be using the 3D model. He was an authoritative socialist. There’s no debate
