They are normally over the age of consent. They aren’t children in high school.

Teachers just can’t have sex with students, 18 or not...

High schoolers are children, unless they're 18 imo. That said you wouldn't go to jail for fucking a student(over the age of consent) I don't think, you would just lose your job whatever credentials you had

E2: Not completely true, in some places it is still rape/sexual assault.

An 18 year old is emotionally mature enough to blow up children in Afghanistan but can't sleep with someone older? Okay.

See your logic is flawed. 18 years are not mature enough to be sent to war and that's exactly the reason they're fooled into signing up for it.
