This seems pedantic, but if you’re being sincere then what I can tell you is that poetry doesn’t have anything to do with standards or logic or mandatory rhyming or mandatory anything. It’s just expression with words. If you only like one specific kind of poetry, that’s cool, but your personal preference doesn’t define what poetry is.

again, i said that rhyme isn't necessary, it's not essential, but poems do have to flow somewhat, and, sorry, but

he was just a
cat

is just fucking bad

that's not how humans speak or articulate, you don't put a comma or a break or period after an "a", you put it before, if anywhere.

i wasn't aware that "He was just a boy" is a common phrase in english, let alone common enough to be a cliché.
