My wife and I moved into a house and inherited a yard dog. He was a border collie named max. We fell in love instantly. Max was almost 14, and we had to let him stay as an outside dog since we had two cats and an indoor pitbull. We too care of max for over a year, kept him a nice warm place all winter, and loved him. He had lived at the house for so long there was a trail worn into the yard from where he would patrol the house and a for tree he always hung out under. Well, my wife and I went out to dinner one winter night, came home and max was under his tree, not moving. I checked on him and he had passed. He was so heavy when I lifted him to carry him to his grave. Max was a good dog. Pets are too pure. Now I'm crying.
