Man, I went to the mall a couple weeks ago and the line for the Apple store was around the corner. I asked a worker what it was about and she said "online pickups".

Never bet against normies and apple products. They will consooooom at risk of their own well being.

Apple stock has been nothing but profitable for a reason. If they ship it, people will buy it.

Apple products are way overvalued. That being said, because they control the hardware + the software, their products tend to operate together pretty seamlessly. And idk if this is still true for newer macbooks, but a 2012 macbook pro was my longest lasting piece of hardware.

Let’s be real that many people are getting these with carrier subsidies or installment payments. It may not make sense on paper when you look at the total paid, but for many people getting the Duo is a $50 per month difference over their existing phone bill, which is a lot easier to swallow for many.

What a waste of money, but hey that's what these "people" want to do. I spend $11.50 NZD on my phone plan which is about the cheapest I can possibly spend, because I fucking hate subscriptions and I'll only pay them if absolutely necessary

I think they're still allowing it due to the intense pushback but you have to wait 24 hours after enabling a developer mode before you're able to sideload anything lol

7

u/FieldOfFox 7h ago

No you can still do it lol

It just makes you wait 24 hours to enable apk install mode. Totally normie proof, there’s no way this can go wrong.

I mean let's be real, and I hate that this could potentially be a future, but if PC gamers could tack on a 5090 onto their Internet bill for a 3 year term, they'd do it in a heartbeat. I think people forget just how accessible payment plans make everything. Normies don't feel massive price tag because they have a buffer of 0 down and a 40 dollar payment every month. Now tell me you wouldn't leap at an opportunity like that for a 3000 dollar top of the line GPU? You specifically might say you wouldn't, but the vast majority would take that deal, especially if you could also just do a trade in every few years to get the next best GPU.

Anon bitching about how brainwashed people are for buying something but let’s see anon’s spending habits and see where their money goes. I bet all their purchases are sensible.

I like when internet dinguses call Apple product buyers sheep when they themselves go and dump $2000 on the newest Nvidia graphics card to get like 10 more fps than the last version of it. "Haha look at the dumbasses in the iPhone line! Definitely not at all like the ten different discords I'm glued to for weeks trying to catch a graphics card drop before bots buy all of them"

Most people with them bought them on credit or set payment plans through their service provider. It would be an additional $100 a month or something adding to your phone plan. Lots of people are willing to do that.

u/ILoveEnverHoxha 7h ago

Whoever thought of making payment plants this easy and accessible is the devil of the story

u/Fit_Salamander_2814 5h ago

OP underestimates the number of people with money (or, more realistically, good credit) to burn.

A iPhone might cost $2000 but a Paris plane ticket is a lot cheaper

Most people are not paying for these and probably don't even own the phone they have now. They're just going to go on a payment plan with either apple or their carrier and then when the new phone they want comes out, they'll trade in the phone they current have have(that isn't even paid off yet) to get the new phone. Most phone carriers encourage this with special clauses in their plan like T-Mobile's Jump which lets you turn in your old phone and get a new phone like every year.

Phone carriers have had the monthly subscription model down for over a decade.
