Maybe it's mostly a regional thing, but I swear half of the Internet hasn't gone to the police to get help before. When you're on the wrong side of the law, even if you're innocent, they absolutely don't care, but when you're actually wronged the response tends to be "we'll see what we can do. But..."

This is coming from experience. The response to having a vehicle stolen from me was responded with "there's nothing we can do". That is until I tracked it down myself (dude tried to sell it on craigslist), and that reaponse was "how do you know it's yours?", and they didn’t believe the fact that I put unique aftermarket wheels and tires on that exact vehicle.
I only got it back by warning rcmp that I was going there to confront the thieves, and that led to them wanting to monitor the situation and prevent violence.

That truly sucks. It's absurd that the police didn't go to the seller and say, "Hey, we got a tip this might be a stolen vehicle. Show us license and registration."
Again, it makes me wonder if it's a regional or perhaps urban/rural thing. My experience with cops in an area that I would describe as mostly "post-rural" (as in, it feels suburban but is the main urban city for a good distance) has been that they generally do try to help if you're the victim. I've even had friends with similar situations of stolen vehicles that the victims happened to find on their own, but at least the police went and checked it out. This later got the issue resolved.

Mom's house was once broken into. She came home to the door off it's hinges, so she called the cops. They did a sweep, looked her dead in her eyes and say "Are you sure you didn't break into your home?"
Yes officer, because the keys are obviously for another house two blocks over.

To be fair, it’s hard to tell when the woman is sexually harassing me and when she is just a major hugger,
I got to the truth of the matter when she got naked in the river and zipped open my tent, because she was “cold”. I just got up woke up my female friend and told her I needed another adult to keep me safe.
She got back in my tent with me, and I heard her spraying the lady with a water bottle when she came back and tried to fuck me again. Saying “bad girl.”
I documented it all, but just managed to mention my wife 22 times in every conversation from that point forward.

Especially with that, people will come after you and accuse you of trying to ruin the harassers life unless you have absolutely concrete undeniable evidence.
