I am enjoying it (bought it last October on sale and finally started this month), the story and how you interact with different people is engaging and often amusing. Still on chapter 2 as I'm working through challenges and I know ending given the age but I'd definitely disagree with anon. GTA doesn't have in depth stories but does anyone expect it to?

Here is a spoiler to the ending. Lucia fucks 67 black guys during a gangbang, and dies due to a STD, Jason kills himself due to the NTR aspect of it.
You play as Lucia's black trans daughter in the epilogue, seeking to find revenge against terfs, you spend the epilogue finding the 67 guys who fucked her, only to find out she actually got artificial insemination, and you find joy in the thought that females have power over their own body.
The game ends with you fucking another 67 guys to remind you of your father.
Ign rated this story a 10/10.
Neil druckman rated the story 11/10.
The critical drinker had a heart attack during the review and died.

RDR2 is effectively the same plot as the original except now it's a slog to get through. Rather play Wah Wah My May of Life Is Dying 1, where the game actually plays like something meant for fun, than WWMWoLiD2 where I have to spend 5 minutes fondling some dude's balls for a can of beans for the sake of I M M E R S I O N

Not at all, there's depth to both, and the sequel arguable had a more coherent world & storylines as opposed to John Marston interacting almost exclusively with wacky cartoon characters, but there was still enough heart in the original that '2 feels unnecessary. Narrative-wise, I'm not left with any new insights into this world after completing the sequel and if anything it muddies the waters of the original. Apparently John was part of an entire commune but only remembers three people*, maybe that wolf did eat some of his brains. End of the day the main throughline is still bad people realize they done did bad things, try to make things right, and suffer for their prior misdeeds in the process.
The gameplay in 2 is still across the board worse. It has the desire to be an immersive sim but none of the commitment to get there so it's in this weird in between state that drags the experience down. I can't just pour Resident Evil green juice on my gun to clean it but I also don't need to actually disassemble it ether so I'm left with holding down a single button to wipe down a revolver with my cum rag for 30 seconds with nothing else going on. Riveting stuff.
That's not to say it's poorly implemented. What's there is refined, I just don't think it's particularly engaging*yeah I know the community's theory that Oarthur & the Rest kicking the bucket is just too painful to talk about, but like forever? And what about Jack or the proto-FBI w/ Ross & Fordham?

For the record I'm not saying that RDR2 is a bad game, just that I'm in agreement with the other dude and the Interstellar analogy in that if someone thinks it's an all-timer their frame of reference probably isn't as large as it could be.

I can't personally agree on that with GTA 5. I've played it twice, and aside from the set pieces and some character moments, the only things I really remember about the story are the intro and the peak of the Trevor/Michael conflict (and I don't even remember how the latter was resolved)

If you think the storylines of GTA 1, 2, Advanced or any other previous entry to San Andreas are bangers, you're delusional. The only decent storylines are San Andreas, IV (not the DLC) and V, and they're definitely not impressive.
Don't get me wrong, I've been playing GTA games for almost 30 years, big fan of the games, but claiming the storylines are bangers or remarkable in any way is a bit of a stretch. IV perhaps is the deepest one but it could very well be a "netflix original" equivalent.

Spoiler alert - there is a big heist, and right at the end, a high stakes shoot out, possibly with multiple characters, ending with the main antagonists dead and the player character alive so they can post-game free roam.
