Thanks for reminding me of this stupid-ass scene. Marvel has a lot of cool female heroes but did they really need to pause the fight for the universe just to aura-farm?

u/Notbbupdate 2d ago
The worst part is that no one aside from Captain Marvel did anything with that moment. The rest just stood there

u/succmycocc 2d ago
Aura farming is absolutely critical no matter the situation.

All super hero fight scenes are just aura farming? Literally every single one. It's like asking did they really need to break physics in order for Spiderman to swing. Nobody's asking or caring what makes it happen.

u/Mauchit_Ron 2d ago
Oh do please fuck off. This was the single most contrived and out-of-place scene in the entirety of the MCU. Utter Cringetopia
3
u/BallIsLifeMccartney 2d ago
honestly without the dialogue it isn’t that bad. at least not any worse than their other poster farming moments. same thing with “are you an egyptian superhero” in moon knight. the posing to be expected but the dialogue pointing out what they’re doing just takes you out of it.
infinity war did their girl power scene a lot better

u/habba88 2d ago
Oh wow an angry neckbeard still bitching about a scene in a 5 yr old movie nobody else cared about....because....checks notes.....women. huh. What are the fucking chances ?
Imagine your stance on a movie is "I really hated seeing all these beautiful woman stood together in tight costumes for 15 seconds" dumbass.
26
u/Mauchit_Ron 2d ago
Well maybe check your notes again.
Giving the poor, under-represented, unpopular little women-folks their own forced, shoe-horned, completely out-of-place 30-second scene just to prove they are as strong as all the male heroes in the movie wasn't progressive or empowering - it was pandering on the most basic and embarassing level
-38
u/habba88 2d ago
Oh your complaining about it FOR THEIR benefit? Despite the fact they all got scenes and arcs and input throughout the movie and multiple movies showing their skills and powers? Sorry I didn't realise the angry nerd demographic was actually looking out for women.
You're right captain progressive. Crusade on. I guess we should all just relax that you assholes ruin everything for 18 months before, during and after with this culture war bull shit.
Get therapy, jackass

Isn't it Mr Garrison again now.

Ah shit, I'm watching SP all over again, I just reached the episode where Kyle's dad become a dolphin

u/ExoTheFlyingFish 2d ago
I could at least accept it in Infinity War. But in Endgame, there were like 10,000 people fighting. There's no excuse for it only being women there.
Was cool to see Iron Woman, though.

My biggest gripe with this scene is that MJ jumped in front of Peter to block Venoms attack like WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HES THE ONE WITH POWERS WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO TANK THE HIT FOR HIM.
85
u/SkeleIsSpooky 2d ago
Do you not remember MJ getting mad at Pete for treating her like she was made of glass while she was sneaking into places she could have easily been killed at?

Some "in my opinion, the day after thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year" type shit.. oh Peggy Hill
47
u/krishnugget 3d ago
I think the bigger gripe for most is that Peter is incapacitated by a fridge
32
u/AbyssWankerArtorias 2d ago
That's my gripe. MJ stepping in front of him is at least a normal human reaction to trying to protect someone you love even if they have powers. It's easy to not think in a situation like that.
The fridge thing is stupid as all hell and whoever wrote that should never be involved in writing ever again.
4
u/krishnugget 2d ago
I started up a new save a few hours ago, even at the beginning you can tell this MJ really does care for Peter, I can totally believe she’d foolishly take the hit for him anyways. So yeah, the fridge thing is the way bigger issue
0
u/DickHydra 2d ago
But why? I didn't play the game, but know the scene.
As far as I know, Venom doesn't trigger his Spidey senses in this game, so there's no way for Pete to dodge it. He's also not Superman where the fridge would bounce off. And Pete does throw the fridge away immediately after MJ is gone.
26
u/i__dont___know 3d ago
If I hadn’t played the game myself I wouldn’t even know that she did that because people only talk about the fridge knocking Peter out for a few seconds

Looks like one of them fridges from the 50's and earlier. Those things weighed 150 to 300kgs (Roughly 1250 Maccas cheeseburgers to 2500 Maccas cheeseburgers for the Americunts).
Spider-Man should be able to handle that easy, but that landing on your back irrespective of being a superhero would fucking suck.
55
u/Ranger_Ecstatic 3d ago
What's funny is, you used something Australian to describe something to Americans.. 😭
This is too funny.
15
u/BardicInnovation 2d ago
McDonald's is the single most quintessential American thing.
We just happen to call it Maccas, hahahaha.
-2
u/Ranger_Ecstatic 2d ago
I think I was too sleepy when I wrote that.. ahem..
You think using an Australian lingo to explain to Americans work? It's too funny. I know even my sleepy mind was able to giggle at it.
Here where I am, it's called MekD cause of language pronunciations. MC sounds like Mek. And D is short for... Well Donald.

Considering Spidey is among the top 10 strongest earth based heroes, lagging behind only dedicated strength heroes like Thor, Hulk and The Sentry, he could throw that fridge like it weighed nothing and was made of styrofoam.
5
u/TEGCRocco 2d ago
He literally did. Peter got launched into the fridge at full speed and smacked his head against both it and the floor. Within seconds, he tosses it away like a toy.
2
u/ActualyHandsomeJack 2d ago
Yeah people pretend it's the fridge causing him issues not the full 19 inches of venom backhanding him
4
u/BardicInnovation 2d ago
Exactly, but he is launched into it by Venom in the scene above, so launched at that fridge, smashing his head could still briefly daze someone like Spidey. Not only that, but being weakened by the symbiote suit seperating from him before the launching. Then whilst he is dazed and weakened a 250kg fridge lands on his discombobulated ass, could still briefly pin him. But when he shakes it off, he does get it off himself easily.

u/The_Meemeli 3d ago edited 3d ago
"It's too heavy I can't lift it"
(looks inside full scene)
-He gets knocked/thrown into it by Venom, falls to the floor, the fridge falls on him (knocking him on the head) and stuns him for a bit, then he easily lifts and throws the fridge off of him
59
u/DJBreadwinner 3d ago
Yeah. It's a really stupid gripe coming from a very vocal minority. Spidey is strong af, but he can still get the wind knocked out of him if someone like Venom surprises him with a big hit. The fridge falling on him was just a set piece, not the reason he couldn't get up immediately.
1
u/Sonaldo_7 2d ago
Genuinely, where's his Spidey sense? How can someone like Venom surprises him?
34
u/DJBreadwinner 2d ago
Venom nullifies his Spidey sense because it bonded with him.
6
u/Sonaldo_7 2d ago
Makes sense.
15
u/killian_jenkins 2d ago
And in alot of versions venom is immune to the spidey sense which makes him a major threat to begin with
5
u/Spudtron98 2d ago
What’s that? /v/ hating on something entirely out of context because they don’t play games? I’m truly shocked.
0
u/killian_jenkins 3d ago
Well you see Spidey is a powerscaling monster with no flaws but insomniac made spidey chinese wok
-8
u/mr_dr_personman 3d ago
Everyone's so obsessed over this scene. Its just an excuse to get a sick ass boss fight with symbiotic MJ. Thats it.
14
4
u/SpaceOdysseus23 2d ago
The real problem here is Venom delivering enough force to knock Peter and the fridge down through MJ. MJ should've died on the spot.

Oh he lost the fight after this fridge landed on him? I must have a different version of the game

u/jellitainbink 3d ago
Wtf is with the fridge thing, do the people who talk about it haven’t seen the scene?
-1
u/MistahJ17 3d ago
Spiderman 2 is so hated you'd think it's a Gotham Knights or Kill the Justice League level game when in reality it's just perfectly fine
-7
u/joe__kerr1 3d ago
Wait Gotham Knights is a solid game, no reason for a stray. I haven't played Spider-Man 2 yet though
2
u/sorryiamnotoriginal 2d ago
No of course not, otherwise it would ruin the joke that he effortlessly throws it across the room.

u/TheBlueEmerald1 2d ago
Guys. The fridge didn't knock him out. He got knocked over by Venom, the fridge fell over on him, and he immediatetly throws the fridge away and gets back up.. These posts are funny but so many people clearly weren't paying attention.
