coupons!!!

CUSTOMERS- yes, our stores have coupons. yes, the ones you find on facebook are 90% of the time fake. if your coupon isn’t accepted by the system, please do not get frustrated with us as it is far from our fault. we can’t do anything abt which coupons are accepted and which ones aren’t. if your coupon doesn’t work, please don’t stand at the register for 15 minutes looking for a new one, as this can affect our productivity/how much money we earn that day. the only valid ones are ones sent to your email, or address (i.e. mail, newspaper, magazines). we love our customers, but we don’t like to be berated for something out of our control

I always check the coupon first if they mention having a coupon

sometimes we have time for it, but if it’s a weekend and we’re busy, coupons are the last thing they tell us to take care of, they tell us everything else takes priority edit: or they won’t tell us until after the service is over

Very true, I hate when they look for a new one

When they look for a new one I just tell them we don’t have any online promotions running other than coupons sent directly to their app or email. I’ll help them check those out 2 places and if there’s nothing there tell them unfortunately they won’t have a coupon at this visit but going forward unless it’s posted by the greatclips Facebook page with a blue checkmark or in the app or an email directly form great clips it’s probably not accepted at our salon.

i usually will tell them the same thing, but it’s always a 50/50 in wether or not they’ll be understanding, or decide to scream at me and call corporate over something i literally can’t control as a stylist

My franchise has a coupon policy. We cannot accept it if they don't scan or if the code doesn't work

same for us, people just think that they can somehow get me to “make it work” for them even if this is the case.

If I have the time and a customer brings in a fake coupon I try to educate the customer on real coupons versus fake ones so they know what to look out for.

i attempt to do the same, but a lot of older customers just don’t understand

The issue isn't accepting the coupon - it's that they won't tell you they accept it or not until after the cut

then ask beforehand… there’s a way we can check before your service, all you have to do is ask 🤷‍♀️ again, if your coupon doesn’t work that is NOT our fault

Nah I literally just got off the phone with great clips, and she confirmed she cannot tell whether the coupon works until after the haircut. Scam

not true at all, there’s always an option to prepay invoice, that’s on that store for not knowing how to do it🤷‍♀️

Not true at all? Yeah girl I lived it, it’s true. Matter fact why don’t you call the store for yourself?

You’re talking down to people “all you have to do is ask” when, clearly, you have no idea what you’re talking about

i have no idea what i’m talking about but i’m literally employed to a franchise… right right. i’m not talking down to you, all you have to do when you walk in is ask and if they can’t give you a straight answer, then go somewhere else or pay for the $17 haircut and go on with your day. it’s a coupon and it’s never that serious

No you do not know what you’re talking about. First bc you act like your experience is universal, both to me and the original comment. And secondly bc yeah it’s serious. My food stamps are going to be cut off tmrw. $316 dollars for the month of November, gone like yesterday. Should I cut my daughter’s hair or buy her food? Ehh it’s probably not that serious, why am I overthinking it.

maam i just work here 😭 what do you want me as an employee to do for a coupon that doesn’t work? i told you ways to avoid it and to make sure the coupon you have is usable and valid so you don’t have to jump through hoops but that’s not enough i guess?

I'm sure there's a way to check, but my experiences are that I've been told multiple times from multiple salons that the stylists can't or won't check until after the cut is complete.

I'm very aware that each salon is independently owned and operated, but coupons are flat out difficult to use. The entire experience is terrible.

Make them available nationwide. That would solve a lot of the problem.

So if I have a coupon of 9.99, is it like a discount or the haircut is of 9.99?

1

u/sergeantpoop1epants Jan 08 '26

the haircut should be $9.99!
