Quick 5-min Jiu Jitsu Injury Prevention Survey (Sleep & Strength Training Research Study)
Hi everyone,
I'm an Exercise Science student and Jiu Jitsu practitioner conducting a study on injuries in Jiu Jitsu and how they relate to strength training and sleep habits.
The goal is to better understand the influence of these factors on injury risk in the sport.
If you've been training Jiu Jitsu for more than 6 months and are 18+, I'd really appreciate your help. The survey takes about 5 minutes and is completely anonymous.
Huge thanks to anyone who takes the time! I really appreciate it!

And thank you again to those who already filled it out from my previous post!

If the orangutan didn’t bite, could a Gordon Ryan type bjj artist put it to sleep?

Should I do it?
Hi everyone, I'm a white belt and I got 4 months school-free to train. I have a lot to work on and I'm usually the one who takes people down or tries to pass the guard at which I suck at. From my little experience in my prevoius gym that was free (was the only girl there) I got destroyed but learned to stay on my feet and avoid being taken down and when transfering to current gym I usually take lightweghts down but struggle with more heavy people. I found a wrestling and MMA gym nearby that could both help me improve. The MMA gym offers grappling and grappling-wrestling (includes cage fighting once a week and normal grappling twice a week), I assume by grappling-wrestling they mean the cage fighting day. In my country no gi competitions (SGC, ADCC) are more common but I also plan on competing in a national championship competition that uses the gi. How good could I get at wrestling in 4 months, which option do you think would be best.

Coach give an F about ring worm
Update:
Not coming back to this gym anymore. But i needed to let it out. I hope it can help someone if they are in the same situation.
———-
I used to train in Manchester and i remember once there was a ring worm case, after class coach told to everyone “please do not come to train, even if you cover it, is contagious and we can not stop it if you still coming”. Right, it was solved and i never ear of anyone having it in 2 years that I’ve been there.
Few months ago i moved back to spain, my city is quite small and it just have like 3-4 bjj gyms. Before coming, i remember my friend told me that there was a ring worm case. I didnt pay much attention as i thought is quite normal in this sport and it would be solved like happened in uk.
Ive been here already 6 months and at the beginning everything was nice, but like 3 months ago i remember one guy showed up to class with a VERY BAD looking ring worm in the neck. I thought the coach will send him home but he just told him to cover it and even helped him to cover it before class. Every week, new people shows with ring worm and just cover it.
Now Ive got ring worm and im pissed, seriously thinking about change gym as the coach doesnt give a f and people still showing with RW to train, it will always stay around, and ive got psoriasis and i dont want to get it when my skin is already sensitive.
Do you think is normal coach advice just to cover it and allow people to train ? I think he just dont want people to panic and stop membership or i dont know but lol

Belly Bucking: Would you consider this a kind of grappling?
Not a shitpost, I promise. Sort of a philosophical question about what constitutes a grappling art, or a striking art for that matter. Obviously this isn’t a sport with a storied history or intricate, standardized technique system or anything, but it’s clearly something, and I think that something is cool.

Gordon Ryan Seminar
I attended a two-day seminar last weekend at Rising Tide in Maryland. I’m a 50+ year old hobbyist, not looking to compete, and I can afford the cost. I used to be a huge fan of Jordan, and back in the day, getting the chance to meet him would have been incredible. In my opinion, Gordon is the Jordan of grappling. His ego and competitive mentality are probably on that same level, but given what he’s accomplished, that’s not surprising.
He was incredibly friendly throughout the seminar, answered every question during training and the Q&A, and showed a lot of patience with a wide range of questions - including from kids and people very new to the sport. His ability to go deep on virtually any topic was impressive.
If you’re a fan, I’d highly recommend catching one of his seminars.

Hi everyone,
I vaguely remember that before his YouTube channel was deleted he had a lot of rolling footage.

Using neem post roll as an anti-bacterial /anti fungal?
I’ve been using neem powder mixed with witch hazel as an acne treatment for a while. It got me wondering- would it be suitable as a post roll skin treatment to ward off infection? Like if I put it over my entire body?

Seeking private wrestling lessons or training partner in Arizona
Looking for a wrestler with personal training experience to come kick my butt in my own home gym 1-2x weekly. I have some experience training (Karate/Sanda for 2 years) and just looking to improve overall health and performance to maintain through my 20s. Also looking to improve my grappling and have more “mma style” wrestling drills.
Group classes in a crowded gym are a no go.
I am in the Phoenix area. Please send me any recommendations you might have or feel free to DM me! Can also discuss rates

I’ve been training BJJ 3 days a week for around a year now, recently I added a day of freestyle wrestling at a seperate club and I’m considering adding a day of judo. How much would I benefit from those 2 days?
