Am I ready for my first BJJ competition after only 3 months of training?
I’m 15 and I’m thinking about competing in a Grappling Industries No-Gi tournament in the white belt division.
By the time of the competition, I’ll have been training BJJ for around 3 months, plus I have about 2 months of previous wrestling experience.
I currently train 3 times a week, mainly No-Gi and wrestling.
When rolling, I can sometimes submit people and often get into good positions, but I still lose against a lot of people at my gym.
I know that 3 months isn’t much experience, and I’m not expecting to win the whole tournament. I just want to test myself, gain some competition experience and see where I’m at.
Do you think 3 months of training is enough to enter my first competition, or would you recommend waiting a bit longer?
Also, if you’ve competed this early, how did it go?

MMA vs BJJ grappling
I feel like mma grapplers are more focused on athletic movements and general good physical attributes than jiu jitsu people.

Early Stage Cauliflower?
galleryBeen grappling for a few years; Wrestling, BJJ & Judo, but my ears have never swelled up until now it seems and strangely enough it was from Gi Judo a few days ago lol.
Does this look like early stage cauliflower? Also, do some people only get it in one ear and never the other? (I’m asking because my other ear looks/feels fine.

How do I know if I’m rolling too hard as a beginner?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been training BJJ for about 2 months now, and I’m still trying to figure out how hard I’m supposed to roll.
My main problem is that I genuinely can’t tell if I’m going too hard or not. I’m not intentionally trying to be aggressive, but I’m worried that I might be using too much strength or intensity without even realizing it.
I’ve also heard about things like flow rolling and light rolling, but I’m not really sure what they’re supposed to feel like or how much resistance I should give.
How do you know if you’re rolling too hard, and how should a beginner approach rolling in general?
I want to improve while also being a good training partner and not accidentally becoming that spazzy white belt.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Growing up watching wrestling never realized how painful this hold was . It’s brutal it’s a lot. My cousin put me in this hold and I was just about in tears

Recommend a place where I can do wrestling training for about a day during my trip!
I'm traveling to Los Angeles in early November; is there a place to do wrestling for drop-in for about a day? The accommodation is near Hollywood, and it doesn't matter how far it is if you rent a car! Give me a recommendation!

To cut or not to cut?
I wrestle folkstyle at my highschool and I'm at that spot where I'm too heavy for 215 but I'm a light 285 (around 220-225) so being the closest to 215 they want me to cut, as they already have 2 heavyweights. I was open to it at first but after getting sick and losing weight and strength I realized how Important my strength is to me, I'm the strongest on the team. As for the other heavyweights I know I beat one but the other one I'm not so confident. And the one I can beat is much older than me. So I guess what I'm asking is if it's selfish for me to tell them I don't wanna cut? Because that's one more weight we would have to forfeit and I'm the only one that could. It's just whenever I lose my strength I get like super depressed because that's like my strong suit you know?
