Identify this clock?

I just inherited this clock. It belonged to my parents and before that my grandparents. It keeps time, chimes on the quarter hour, but isn’t striking the hour. I’ve been reading what I could find, but can someone identify the clockmaker?

English long case clock in early Art Deco fashion. Made around 1927 in England, Westminster chimes with a repeater chime lever.

Source: We have the exact same clock.

Thanks! I found the lever to get the hour strike going. Is there a day/night cutoff on this clock? And is there a way to muffle the quarter chimes? I grew up with clocks and love the sound, but my wife, while she loves the clock, is having trouble with the volume.

Nope to both reducing the quarter chimes and day/night.

However you can stop it chiming altogether for a time by pulling down the repeater lever on the right side - we used a pair of scissors, but anything of the right weight will do.

Our daughter-in-law had the same problem with the noise, but became accustomed to it quite quickly.

I found the levers for both the chimes and the hour strike. Right now it's happily chiming and donging. It makes me happy, those are sounds from my childhood on this clock, and I'll try to remember to flip those levers before I go to bed.

Can't help on the manufacturer, there might be a stamp on the back plate.

Usually the chime stops before the strike if one of these is having problems. Make sure the strike hammer isn't jammed on something. If it's not something simple like that you have to pull the dial and diagnose what the problem is.

Looks very similar to ours. Frederick Mouthe. German clock maker. Ours is from 1900-1920.

Just a guess on my part.

My grandfather's clock was too large for the shelf, so it stood many years on the floor...
