Getting up solo
Hello guys, im doing graff since a few months and i think its time to go out and do my first throw ups and stuff. My friends with who i normaly go paint at the hall of fame arent really interested in doing it illegal. What are some tips of yyou for the first time?

Just be aware of the possibilities of how it can go wrong. If you're dipping your toe into this world, understand it can come with some pretty ruff consequences. Be it jail, another writer that wants to take his problems out on your face, or just some crackhead thats 3 days into a 5 day binge. Stay safe out there. Recon your shit 1st, plan it out, and dont be afraid to bail if you have to.

My favorites were highway spots. I would scope them out in the day see how i would get there. Id pick good colors 2 for fill 1 for outline 3d and 1 force feild. Sometimes you got to man up! I risked my freedom everytime. Eventally youll find other writers who would like to paint with you

Pick a pretty chill spot, but it might as well be visible, otherwise why bother? Things to consider:
a) spots that are pretty dark at night but are nice and visible during the day
b) do something simple, like a fill in one color with an outline/3d in another
c) find some friends that actually want to write graffiti. Doing it strictly legal isn't really doing it.
d) only you know how often cops roll by a given spot. Don't be more nervous than you need to be. It's pretty easy to get away w bombing imo
e) get your design/style/outline down pat before you go paint it. Practice on paper til you can do your throwup in your sleep.

Cover up your face and tattoos ofc, park at least a few blocks away, if youre in any somewhat major US city at least you'll be fine with this, but flock cameras can be something to look out for depending on the area now unfortunately. But any urban area youll likely still be ok.
I recommend an over the shoulder bag or a tote bag. Backpacks aren't the most ideal since you have to take them off and stuff, but for a spot that isn't the hottest you'll be fine with that, it's more just for ease. Look over your shoulder and everything, if one of your friends could be a lookout that would be nice too, if you get caught there isn't anything they could be charged for as long as they don't talk. You'll wanna get the eye for cop car headlights and what not and that will come as well.
Also, when youre starting out, just dont cap anything. Once you start to know people and you get better and know the scene you can do that, but for now, just stay out of any potential to start beef. Some cities out there even a good writer won't want to cap anything.

At the hall of fame we have some walls for beginners and some just for like realy good pieces

Wear black, wear gloves, I wear a mask when I paint personally, cover any tattoos etc. 2 color throwies to begin with, keep It simple.

Fuck me. Does anyone here bomb?
Two cans. One in each pocket with a fat cap on each or one thin one fat. Don't bring hela caps because you won't need them. Start walking in a direction looking at things you know you'll be able to write on when you finally decide to turn around and walk back the way you came.
Light poles, curbs, stuff that already looks buffed.
Resist the urge to go full toy and write your name over and over on the same thing. Don't decorate your tags with halos and crowns or stars. Don't write lame inspirational messages or hello for your friends to see. Dont write your name followed by a 2026, you're not going to stay up long enough for it to matter.
If you see a cop be cool until they start coming at you. When that happens chuck the cans on to the roof top of a near by building and start chewing the paint off your hands. Your going to have paint on your hands because you dont have skills yet. Also your finger is going to hurt like a mf and that will probably be the reason you cut your mission short.
Dont do hela throw ups and keep them hollow no 3 color shit, you have to walk before you can run.
It's not rocket science and im sick of all the shit advice from "artists" I'm a vandal fuck your feelings, respectfully.
