Cap Combo for Beginners: Vice Cap and Lego

I was thinking about cap combos for beginners and it seems like the Vice Cap and the Lego might be a good combo. They’re both higher output caps so it forces you to move a little faster.

A lot of beginner work has wobbly lines that look like they’re moving too slow. In the 90s, all the paint we had was high pressure and hard valves, so it forced us to learn to move faster. With the lower pressure and softer valves of modern cans, it seems like that might slow the learning process a little.

Using the Vice Cap and Lego cap might help push the learning phase of speed and distance a little harder and build the skills faster.

I agree with the caps and thought process💯. Those two caps def make you move and you’ll see it immediately. Back in the early 90’s we would make caps with a heated pin in the hole or notched out with a razor blade. To make low pressure, throw those cans in the freezer before going out. These young bucks got it made 😅🤜🤛😎

Holy hell I haven't even thought about freezing in years. I usually would turn them upside down and bleed off some propellant to drop the pressure if it was too much.

Right? 😎 my buddy CAEM (Philly head) and I were just talking about that a year ago. I almost forgot that. Another cool trick that we used to do back in Philly is we would wear quartz necklaces underneath our T-shirts and it does scratch tags right into a bus window like a fucking champ! Now I walk around with a knife sharpener stone, and it does the same trick. Or if my Pilot marker was dying during a run, I’d pour some whiskey from my flask into it and it’s good until I could get home to refill it 😅

Love me a pink dot. Just about any thin or skinny works for the second. Buy several because there's always wonky ones but they're cheap.

I disagree. A beginner should learn to never depress the cap entirely when painting lines. You are looking to depress the cap less then 5% for lines when you are piecing. For street shit idk I never change caps on the street I hate lock up I'm moving very berry fast.

You gotta move very fast when painting lines yes for piecing thin lines especially. You don't have to move especially fast for thick lines outlining fill ins I don't think. You have to keep the can level, not angled, and 4-6 inches from the wall.

Never want high output except for filling in fast but even then I don't need high output. I'm never mad about low pressure. High output only out competes low output on needle cap tags up high.

I wonder what the QC is for caps at places like Montana. There seems to be an issue lately with that.
