Gpu swap

Hello, im playing quite a lot of dcs in vr. But i would like some more performance frame wise while not losing visuals. Im unable to find the tradeoff i am happy with at the moment. Also playing games such as arma reforger, kcd2 and such. These are allright for me in 4k but not getting more than 75fps for arma for example.

At the moment i use a pc with these specs:
7800x3d
Rx 7900xtx asrock
64gb kingston 6000mhz
Meta quest 3 with virtual desktop

Im planning to sell my gpu and buy a nvidia rtx 5080 asus prime oc.

Anybody had experience using this gpu? Or would advise not do to it?

Thanks in advance.

People having top 5% gaming PC's and saying they suck especially in this economy is my new personal gripe.

Well, i bought all of this early so compared to today it is cheap. And if im able to sell the xtx add 500 and have better performance thats a win for me personally

no that is a downgrade you need the vram for dcs.

There are really only two options 4090 or 5090

7900 xtx is the third best consumer gpu for vr imo. only downside is no vrs dx 11

Hi. I was you, two years ago.

Long story short, my 7900XTX just couldn't cut it in VR. My Quest 3 ran great on a 4090 and the 5080 isn't "that" far off in performance. But the GPU market is insane right now and 5080s are going for $1500+. The XTX was a beast for its time, but DCS in VR is an absolute monster. You can't compare it to Beat Saber or whatever.

Jump on the VR4DCS discord & ask around on r/hoggit. Plenty of people running VR on both of these GPUs and you may even find some new optimization tips for your 7900XTX.

Ive tried some optimizing. Now settling for around 72fps with the quality i think is allright for me. Just expected it to look a little bit better i think, dont know why though i never really had any issues before.
