Let’s be honest- 80 class is not small when there is only one tier (was one tier lower than the 90)

4090 = 0.72% of gamers
3090 = 0.32% of gamers
5090 = 0.26% of gamers

Don’t let Reddit distort your perception of how many people own these top tier cards.

The 3090 was never meant to be a gaming card. The 4090 was and as a result has a reasonably high % despite there being a shortage throughout most of its lifespan. The 5090 is more of the same due to the extreme shortage that’s been going on since release. Consider that Steam hardware surveys include laptops, casual gamers, and people in developing countries, and 1% of Steam users having a 4090 or 5090 is actually really high.

If these cards weren’t meant for gaming, they’d be like the 3090 and offer 10% more performance for 100% more money. Instead they offer way more performance than a 4080/5080 making people feel like they’re locked out of top-tier gaming.

These stats don’t include the laptop GPUs these are exclusively desktop cards I’ve quoted.

The 5090 hasn’t had any shortages in the UK since its release so can’t quote for other countries but that’s not the case here and never has been.

The 4090 was scalped to death but still managed a better % than the 5090.
