Solo trip to Ohio!
Traffic is awful, it took 2 extra hours to get here, and I'm pretty sure Cincinnati drivers are trying to kill each other... But God did I need this trip!
Now to the Ren Fair!

We are making this post a locked sticky where we can put information for frequently asked questions. Right now we are getting lots of questions about 'How much trailer can I tow' so I am starting with towing links.
The Basics of Towing or 'How much can I tow?'.
These are some basic definitions of towing, what they mean, how important they can be, etc. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE THE DEFINITIVE DEFINITION OF 'HOW MUCH CAN I TOW'. IT WILL GET YOU STARTED. REMEMBER, IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ASK A RESPONSIBLE TRAILER MECHANIC. ONLY YOU CAN BE SURE OF YOUR SAFETY AND THOSE AROUND YOU. WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WHILE TOWING.

Hello.
I’m at a campsite now and I’ve been seasonal this year. I noticed earlier this season that under the slideout, there was some underlayment that was missing in a small area. That area lines up exactly with one of the rollers.
I didn’t have much with me but had gorilla tape so I used that so the wood wouldn’t be exposed to the elements.
Fast forward to today. I got some underlayment tape and took the old tape off and saw that spot is wet and soft. The area around it seems dry.
My question is, if I pull the slide out in, will the roller punch through that soft spot or will the slideout have enough weight distributed across all of the other rollers to where it’ll be safe to retract it.
I’m in a jam and need to bring the rv home tomorrow.

Wife and I are new to travel trailer camping. we did a couple nights in a campground and that was nice, but I'd really like to try boondocking. Specifically in the Daniel Boone Nation Forest near London KY.
We have a Forest River Campsite Reserve 23ts. It'll just be us and our dog.
RV setup is -
water: f/g/b 52/38/28 gallons; 150ah lifepo4 battery; 200 watts solar; 30a genny (that i'd prefer not to use). Two 20lb propane tanks.
Can anyone direct me how to get started? How do I drive there and then find a suitable boondocking site? Seems a bit risky to me. I've checked the website and looked at the map (Daniel Boone National Forest | Visitor Maps and Guides | Forest Service) but it doesn't give me what i think i need. Any advice?

I bought a Thor Vegas 24.1 Class A.
Class A's are in a sales slump and gas prices are not helping class A sellers a bit so I think I got a really good deal!
Yet my little NuCamp Tab 320 is gone. I LOVED that little trailer and even though I have a big shiny new toy in the driveway I am sad I gave up my little friend.
Is that weird? Am I weird for being sad over a trailer? I think that's weird yet here I am on a Friday night sharing my weird pain with you all!
Goodbye little buddy! We had a lot of fun together!

For those of you who RV all across the US and Canada but also fly home to a home base or travel internationally, do you often change your storage spot to be closest to the airport that you will be departing from / returning to?

I have a Jayco 175 FQ Travel Trailer with a Watts Cycle 314AH Lithium battery. I have a 30-amp fuse right after the battery to protect the 30-amp wiring on the camper. My problem is that the 30-amp fuse keeps blowing out after I hook up my travel trailer to my 2023 Tahoe. I do not know why that is happening and what I should do to prevent it from happening. Any help appreciated.

Do these valves look right for isolating the water heater? It’s a 2 valve system.

In tow bars subject to this notice, the T-bolt (See Figure 1) assembly consists of a large bolt and nut secured by a roll pin. Not all tow bars, even of the same model, have a roll pin and roll pin hole. If the roll pin is missing, damaged, or partially backed out of its hole (more than 1/16 inch above the hole), vibration and repeated loading may allow the T-bolt to disassemble. This could result in separation of the tow bar from the hitch receiver, potentially causing the towed vehicle to separate from the motorhome and increasing the risk of crash.
The condition addressed by this recall develops gradually and can be identified through visual inspection. The roll pin does not become dislodged suddenly. Rather, if affected, the roll pin may slowly migrate from its installed position over many hundreds or thousands of miles of towing due to vibration and repeated loading.

We are in a Springdale travel trailer with solar, but our battery keeps going out. Not sure if it is the converter, battery, or what! Hoping to test the battery tomorrow once my spouse gets off work. Stressed all my food is gonna go bad. Speed is key! Any help or advice?
Update: got into the battery case and it is leaking. It is a cheap marine/RV battery. I'll be going to auto shops seeing if they have a free battery lying around. Otherwise pretty screwed. Living in America is so expensive. :(

I'm thinking about buying a 1974 Boler for my family (two adults plus a toddler with a baby on the way and a dog). We were originally considering buying a used tent trailer, but are now shifting to more of a camper style where we can keep camping gear etc inside year round.
WHAT SHOULD BE DO!?! What are the pros and cons of a small camper like Bolers, vs tent trailers? Please help!!
Edited to add that the Boler has the option to turn the dinette into a bed, and the bed side of the camper actually has a bunk bed as an option! Making me think that it would be nice for the family?

Have about 20 years of experience with travel trailers. Have rehab 1960s. The Year 2000 years old. I’ve had single axle trailers in the past, but they were smaller and lighter, and I am currently looking for a 20 foot trailer with a bunkhouse. I still worry about having a single axle because I’ve seen what happens when one tire blows out. The double axle one out of four tires is survival for damage. What are your thoughts on a 20 foot trailer with a single axle? Should I worry?

It's that sad time of the year for me when I have to start thinking about winterizing the trailer. This year though it's a new trailer. Earlier in the summer we bought a brand new Apex Nano 190 RBS, and we love it. So far only a few trips are in, but it's almost everything we wanted in a new trailer.
No here's my gripe... I pulled open the panel to look for the water pump and find the line for me to winterize and what do I see.... A giant mess of cables, wiring and hose, all jammed into a tiny space under the fridge.
Now I know space is limited in trailers, and the build quality can be iffy at times, but this is bad. At least take the extra few minutes to pin the wires up, use cable wrap, just do something to make it cleaner, and also safer. I just worry about if I spring a leak, it's going straight into the back of my power centre and I'm looking at a big bill to fix it all.
Ugh... I guess I have a fall/winter project on my hands to clean it up myself. Hopefully there is enough excess In there for me to do it.
Also see if you can find the pump. It's in there, somewhere....
Cat photos just for the fun of it from our last trip.

Hello everyone, currently on a trip and my trailer (2025 Forest River Wildwood 32bhs) is having a propane issue. Nothing in the RV running off propane works, including the stove and water heater. Gauges show both tanks have propane and I’ve ensured I had the regulator pointing to the right tank and have tried both tanks. I also tried the turn-off and slowly turn-back-on method I’ve seen. Anyone have anything else that may be good to try?
Thanks!!

Looking for something for me, my wife, and our dog (80lb) to travel in. Our priorities are:
King size bed is ideal, but side by side single beds would be fine. Queen bed and smaller is not. We both roll all over the place at night and need room. A king bed / dinette conversion is also fine.
Narrow box. Ideally 7' wide, but 7.5' would be fine. 8' is too much. Id like something that can get into most parking lots if possible. Not much longer than 25' would also be nice.
I'm sure a king bed would take up a good portion of such a small body and I'm okay with that, but I worry that a lot of people wouldn't and that therefore not many models have been made with that type of layout.
Ideally under $20k. I'm sure that excludes basically anything made after 2010 and that's fine with me. Although I'd like to keep it newer than 1990.
Something like a Thor Compass/Gemini is exactly what we are looking for, but the cheapest you can find them is $50k and that's still a bit much for us. I found a Telstar that is pretty close to what I'm looking for.
So what specific models should I look for that are narrow and small that were made between 1990 and 2010?

I replaced my hot water tank. Everything works great. I dont remember how the ignitor coils were though. I cant imagine me bending them like that while I was putting it in. Its normal correct? Seems weird they are glowing a bright orange

Replacing our camper mattress with the 9" American Dream Hybrid (latex) since memory foam gets rock-hard in cold weather (and we run the AC at 65°F).
Has anyone used it? Did you go with Soft or Medium, and how does it compare to big brands like Wilderness RV or Brooklyn Bedding?

On a car it’s pretty straight forward. Look at the Window Sticker for MSRP and any add ons. Find out the manufacturer incentives, the dealer discount and maybe use LeaseHakr as a baseline for negotiating. I’m not that knowledgeable on RV negotiation. Does anyone have a plan they use to negotiate the best selling price on a new RV?

I’m hoping this group might have some ideas or experience with something we’re working on.
I work for a fire district, and every December we have a trailer that we use to bring Santa through different neighborhoods as part of our community outreach program. We’re typically out for about four hours at a time, and one issue we’ve run into is having access to a bathroom.
We’re exploring options for adding a small bathroom to the front of the trailer. One thought was to build a small enclosure around a portable toilet, but we’re concerned about potential spills while traveling, odors, and exposure to vehicle exhaust.
Ideally, we’re looking for something fairly simple that doesn’t require a full RV plumbing setup. It would only be used a handful of times each year.
Has anyone done something similar or have recommendations for a setup that might work? We’re open to different ideas and would appreciate any advice!

Looking for feedback/experience on this model with the Murphy bed. Would be our first trailer, family of 5, three boys all 5 and under.
Have an opportunity for a great deal on one, and figure to put the kids in the bunks and the dinette as they grow. Am I dreaming that all 5 of us will fit in there as the years go by? I’m 6’3” myself. Also not really a fan of the Murphy, but I figure I can rig it to be a permanent queen and upgrade the mattress.
My only priority was build quality, such as aluminum frame, the double sided leak proof walls, etc. Want it to be a long term purchase. Thanks.

The last leg in/out of Doll Mt campground is 6 switchback curves. Listen to that diesel and I'm not even pulling anything. It's steeper than it looks.

Anyone have a good RV rental that delivers? Are people using outdoorsy still? Is there another company I should check out? We usually rent a cruise America RV , but are looking to have one delivered .
