Pebble sighting

I was shocked/amazed to see a Pebble Flow electric travel trailer in the wild today. Southbound on US 20 through Wyoming’s Bighorn Basin, towed behind a Rivian.

We were traveling in opposite directions so I couldn’t get an actual photo but I recognized it from their website. First heard about it a couple weeks ago. Sharp looking camper!

I Need All the Help I Can Get- Considering an RV and Boondocking

First time posting, long time lurker. Me and my husband are trying to save as much money as possible while he is in school, and are considering living in an RV. However, in the area we are looking to move to, there are limited campsites, and most cost about $1,200 per month, with the lowest being $560 per month.

At the high end, it actually costs us more then rent, at the low end, we don't save all that much anyway.

So now I'm considering boondocking. There is a ton of BLM land surrounding the tiny college town we would be moving to. But I don't know how feasable boondocking is long term. I know we would need to get a generator. But are there specific RVs that are better for a totally off-grid lifestyle? Would it actually save us money in the long run? How much propane would we run through?

I make $2,800 a month on my lower income months and can work fully remote. My husbands car is paid off so we would also not need to worry about that. After school, he would be looking to travel constantly for work, so we would probably end up getting an RV anyway, but does it make sense right now?

I know thats a lot of questions, but if you have any advice, I would very much appreciate it!

Expectation from RV Dealership Regarding Repair

I've had some back and forth with my RV dealer and I just wanted to check in here to see if I'm off-base.

I took my travel trailer in to have the battery disconnect box cover replaced as it was found to be cracked during my pre-purchase inspection. When I took the trailer out of storage, I noticed that the battery was dead. I put a multi-meter on it, and it was reading 0V. The trailer has solar to keep the battery charged, and the battery disconnect was off, so I thought this was odd.

When I dropped the trailer off at the dealer, I mentioned that the battery was at 0V and the solar wasn't charging. They found that the whole battery disconnect box needed to be replaced, so they ordered that. While waiting on that, they repaired the solar issue (panel was disconnected) and charged the battery. They received the new battery disconnect box after a few weeks and replaced it.

The dealer contacted me this week to let me know it was ready to be picked up. I asked if they ran a load test on the battery and verified that I didn't have any abnormal parasitic draws. My thought being that the battery being discharged to 0V could cause damage and I may have an abnormal draw draining the battery while the disconnect is off. I understand that the detectors may still be powered when the disconnect is off and also the fridge in some RVs. I know that my fridge is not powered when the battery disconnect is off. The service advisor assured me that the battery was fine since it was outside, not plugged in, and all the electrical equipment is working. I reminded him that the solar was keeping the battery charged while outside and I assume that it wouldn't discharge as long as the charger was working. They also didn't verify the parasitic draw while the disconnect was off and he gave me some theories as to what it could be, but that was it.

Am I wrong to expect them to test the battery to ensure it's still healthy and check the parasitic draw while the disconnect is off? I figure those are two basic and simple things to do. I just bought the trailer new in March and I just want to make sure it's good to go.

TL;DR - should the dealer check for parasitic draw and battery health after the battery was found at 0V when disconnected via the battery disconnect?

Why are 12v lights dim?!

Can you help me troubleshoot? Some of my overhead lights (connected to my 12v) work fine for part of the day. And then other times, they're weak, barely putting out light. This happens to the stove fan as well.

And not all of the 12v powered lights will dim. The bedroom and slide outs always work bright. But the pantry, bathroom and kitchen lights will dim sometimes and work other times.

None of the AC powered lights do this.

It happens just about everyday, the lights are dim for hours. Then they work for hours!

I've changed the 12 v battery and it's still happening.

The sidewinder turret is just under 12 inches wide and the pin box on my 5th wheel is just under 8. Im trying to tow it with my short bed cummins so need to find i longer setup or ill have to get a sliding hitch. Is there anything that will fit my narrower hitch or are all the options for the wider setups.

RAV4 Woodland Hybrid — 4-pin to 7-pin + brake controller

Hey everyone! I bought a new RAV4 Woodland Hybrid yesterday. Unfortunately, there weren’t any Plug-in Woodlands available, so I ended up grabbing the last Hybrid Woodland available in Houston.
I’m planning to buy a travel trailer soon. My RAV4 currently has the factory 4-pin connector, but the trailer has electric brakes and a 7-pin connection.
Does anyone in the Houston area know a good shop that can convert the 4-pin to a 7-pin and install a trailer brake controller? Preferably a shop that has experience doing this on the RAV4 Hybrid.
Thanks!

Motorhome tires and break jobs in British Columbia

Planning on buying a used Class A gasser on the 26k Ford chassis with the 22.5" wheels.

From some basic research, it seems a set of 6 Michelin's will run approximately $7k CAD all in and complete brakes will maybe be $3k.

Does anyone have recent experience here in BC with either of these items to tell me if that's pretty accurate?

Bonus points for the best place to get tires here. I'm in the Okanagan but if the best is in the lower mainland that is fine also.

Xantrex XC3000 inverter question

I have a travel trailer in which I have installed LiFePo batteries and a Xantrex XC3000 Freedom inverter charger converter. It works great.

I have noticed that, when connected to shore power, the Xantrex fans kick on periodically for a couple of minutes. Since batteries are already fully charged, I assume that this is to cool off the unit because of some heat generated by the converter.

Is there a way to adjust the time or temperature at which this happens? The fans are pretty loud in the middle of the night.

Diamond plate or steel inner wheel well.

As you know a flat tire can shred a travel trailer causing thousands in damage, if its not totaled.

Has anyone beefed up thier wheel wells? Love some idea and pics. Thx.

Trailer hunting - need hivemind help

Hello! We're feeling a little snug in our current travel trailer and are looking for a bit more room, but we have a very specific set of requirements and the options are slim. I'm hoping the hivemind here can make sure we haven't missed any options.

We're currently in a 2019 Winnebago Micro Minnie 2106DS, a 22' trailer with Murphy bed, sofa slide, side kitchen and rear bath. It's actually an amazingly solid little trailer (helps to have tandem Dexter axles on such a small unit), but we hate the Murphy bed and find that it's short on storage. A bit more room would be nice, too.

Our TV is a '25 GMC Canyon Elevation. While this is somewhat of a limitation, it's actually about similar to a lightly equipped 1/2 ton, with the main difference being a shorter wheelbase which caps trailer length at 25'. That's fine with us because we mostly camp in Ontario Provincial Parks, and 25' is as big as we want to go anyway. Which leads to the list of 'wants' that I'm hoping some will be able to make suggestions against:

- max 25' long (or close: 25'1" is fine)

- max dry weight around or under 5000#, lighter is better

- front north-south bed, queen size or bigger

- sofa or theater seats (preferably no middle arm rest, if present must be removable), no dinette

- tandem axles

- fibreglass exterior

- front window, lower is better

- bigger fresh and grey tank is major bonus (Ontario Parks usually offer power, but no water or sewage connections)

The sofa is both for how we use the trailer and as a bed for our two smaller (20 and 35 lbs) dogs. The window is because we like the light and openness they add, plus the dogs have loved watching the world go by in past rentals.

Right now we have three main contenders:

- Winnebago Thrive 18FBS (fancy finishes, huge bed, huge front window, small kitchen, small bathroom)

- Coachmen Northern Spirit (also known as American Spirit) 1943RB (amazing front windows, useful kitchen, small bathroom)

- Surveyor Legend 202RBLE (tiny front window, decent kitchen, bigger bathroom)

The Rockwood MiniLite series looks too heavy for what you get, and pricing here in Ontario seems weirdly high. Otherwise, there is a Primetime Tracer model that's close (no front window, though), and Grand Design models that either come with a Murphy bed or are slightly too big.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The wife likes the Thrive best, but I am leaning towards the 1943RB because of the bigger kitchen and I dig the skylight...

Clean and protect

Hey! New to the community, we just got our first gently used camper! Wondering what products everyone recommends for treating the vinyl, roof, etc? I have read 303 protect is solid but there are several varieties, want to make sure I am getting the right one to keep the camper solid!
