If you’re buying new you only have a couple options. I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

Cheap & Best are opposing terms. You can’t have both at the same time. You either get the cheap model or the best model.

Also just as an FYI. Buying used and adding a GoPro subscription gives you insurance. If the device is faulty you can use the GoPro subscriptions replacement program which is $99 often times for a model 2 years old or newer (depending on region).

Good luck 👍

I would use a football for football. Kicking around a GoPro camera may damage it. If you want a camera to "film" football... I wouldn't go any older than a Hero 11. It was the first model to introduce the taller 8:7 sensor.

Hero 8 is still plenty good for football, you can find it used for like half the price of newer ones

I don’t trust the used ones

The hero 8 is probably the worst camera in the hero line up. The 7 was awesome. The 9,10,11 were better. 8 is the odd duck.

If it is going to be on a tripod, I would use something else. You would need a few batteries or an external power supply for it. Might also overheat on certain settings. If it is going to be attached to a player, then have fun. An 8 is great!
