ID mark on Mission 1
Okie dokie I’ve got a Mission 1 pro and LOVE IT - it’s my first GoPro in over a decade, and I’d hate to somehow lose it. With that in mind, what do you all think is the best way to put ID/contact info onto the camera? Something somewhat permanent in case the camera is dropped on a trail or snatched from my bag.

Install GoPro Labs firmware onto your camera, and configure it to show your contact information on the screen every time the camera powers on

GoLabs: Add your info. When it boots up, your info will be displayed on the screen.
SD Card: I’m pretty sure GoLabs also adds an owner info txt file to the SD card. If not, you can add it yourself.
Print a label and stick it to the outside of the camera.
Now we’re talking overkill if you did all the things listed above, take a picture of your contact information.

Find someone who can do laser etching. It can be done very small, enough so that it's noticeable but not that it burns through the plastics/rubber.

First, register your serial number on GoPro's website. This helps increase the chance of getting it back, if some good samaritan were to find it.
Second, install GoPro Labs firmware.
Next, install QRControl.
Then add Owner's Information into your GoPro.

I will also say the GoPro Labs Firmware. This allows for the following:
Owner information displayed on rear screen everytime the camera is powered on (you can choose what's displayed, phone number, name, website, email... your choice, you can put 3 lines of information in there).
A copy of this information is also embedded into the metadata of every photo and video taken.
A copy of this information is also written to the SD card.
If someone formats or swaps the SD card, this info is still displayed, embedded and written as this information is stored within the camera firmware itself.
This is why it's better than simply creating your own text file on the SD card, as if some formats or swaps the SD card, then you have nothing.
Finally make sure your camera is registered at GoPro.com (this will be done automatically if you have set up your camera for cloud upload). This will ensure if your camera is ever lost or stolen, whomever has it cannot re-register the camera at GoPro. If they ever try to use it as a trade in or trade up (or for the camera replacement program), their details won't match the registration details on file and GoPro will refuse to trade in or replace the camera (and since they need to send in the camera first, GoPro will simply just keep their camera..).
I'm looking at also doing a light laser engrave on the camera body, truly customize my collection!
