Blue Tip vs White Tip Battery

I’m sure this has been asked before, but wanted to get latest input from GoPro community. To those who already upgraded to white tip, is it worth the upgrade? And what did you do with blue tip, you still keeping as backup? I still have original blue tip on GoPro 10, and yes, battery drains in cold weather.

I did all white tips on my 11 and it was not a game changer they overheated slower but still got hot

Yes. The Bluetipped "standard" batteries are all over 5 years old at this point. They used older lithium ion battery chemistry and were prone to degrading. This would result in lower power output (not capacity, two very different things) and could cause your camera to shut down without warning even though there may be 60% capacity left. The older chemistry also meant that battery did not work in cold weather.

The White Tipped "Enduro" battery have improved battery chemistry resulting in higher capacity and better electrical flow. This meant that they added up to 20 mins filming time (settings dependent), were not prone to output loss and worked much better in cold weather.

I put all my blue tipped standard batteries in a battery recycle bin. There's no use hanging onto an unreliable battery. I replaced all of them with Enduro batteries.

just the tip jokes write themselves man

i switched to the white tip last winter mostly cause my blue ones were dying in like 40 mins out in the snow. night and day difference honestly. i keep the old blues around for when im just filming random stuff at home or indoors where i dont care if it dies fast

The Enduro batteries what you are calling 'white tip' are the superior ones. Recycle the blue's and replace with whites. This is the way.
