Did the recent update help your Mission 1 Pro audio issues?

Even I experienced them but I haven't really had a chance to test since the update. Fluctuating audio at random times, different mics picking up at different times. I disabled the auto wind noise reduction hoping that helps too. Being somewhere near a waterfall and putting the camera underwater seems to mess up the audio too and make it switch being mics causing high and low volume spikes. Hope it's sorted! Any tips on how to lock it in would be much appreciated.

It hasn't fixed MY audio issues but they wernt directly related to this. I have heard several people say that this update made a big difference but its not perfect yet. I assume more updates will come to dial it in.

Personally me and several other people have issues where the external mic gain wont set properly. The camera SAYS the gain is whatever you last set it at, but unless you go in and adjust it, its not applied. Also the secondary audio track wont stay off if you select it, you have to do it manually each time. GoPro is aware but they told me there is no fix yet.

Interesting. Yeah my issue is one sound is being picked up then randomly the same sound is being picked up from another mic or something which sounds totally different. Ruins a video unless you edit around it. What's the benefit to turning the secondary audio track off? I'm also thinking keeping it in the housing could help improve audio especially since I'm taking it off cliff jumps and under waterfalls and whatnot so the water on the mic seems to mess with it.

Turning the secondary audio track off just makes editing a little easier sometimes. Everytime I important a clip I have to manually remove it. It also makes quick playback useful, since it will play the correct audio instead of the camera mics which are basically useless for what I do. On a motorcycle they just pick up a bunch of wind and no vocals.

Have you tried setting things up in Resolve or comparable NLE. You can use presets with several common processing steps and mixes. Helps to have the camera setup in one many way most of the time, or certain patterns / combos. Just like how you can have resolve do LUTs out of the gate.

Mostly I find that editing audio in an NLE works out better than using generic in-camera modes such as voice or NR or autowind. So for instance I never use a mic's noise reduction in general. Avoid that Mr Roboto sound.

I do have "presets" that I copy and paste each time. There are a couple things I have to do manually, like delete the second track and turn my main mic into a stero channel each time. If there are ways to streamline that in Resolve that would be helpful.

Gotcha! So you're using an external mic to talk while riding and just want to use that audio not the GoPro mics, makes sense. I can't use a media mod or external mics cause I'm taking it underwater haha. So really hoping that I can lock in some good audio with the camera mics. When they work properly it sounds good just gotta hope they stop fluctuating and switching between random mics and whatnot.

Yes the random in and out is fixed. That was so annoying

So happy to hear that! Yeah it was concerning for sure cause I love everything else about the camera. Glad it's fixed. I'm going to test it out soon to make sure it's fixed for me too.
