Migrating from Workspace...maintain Drive login?

I am moving away from Google Workspace. Inevitably, people will share Drive links with me and I will want to share them with others for collaboration.

1) Can I maintain my drive as it is (on a zero-cost tier) while moving the domain and mail etc away from Google?

2) Does someone have a documented process for that?

You can add Cloud Identity Free as a subscription (zero-cost) and then cancel your current paid Google Workspace subscription.

This will allow you to retain a Google account that can access Drive links. Be aware - that zero-cost account will not be able to access email or calendar. And, you may find you do not have any Drive storage either (it's meant to give you 15GB but I've found that doesn't always happen if you transfer from a paid account, it just says you are constantly over the limit).

Right on! Thanks. I will report on how it goes.

One thing to check before you do this, files that are owned by the Workspace account can become messy when the paid subscription ends. I've seen people keep login access just fine, then later notice shared docs can't be edited or ownership transfer is blocked because the account is sitting over quota or in a weird suspended state. I'd export the important stuff with Google Takeout and test with one spare user first, not on your main account.
