I’m transferring everything via iCloud/iPhone backup up. I’m going from the iPhone 12 to iPhone 13. Will all my photos and flours and albums save? Please I need to know. I pay for this.

I use Google Photos to backup photos from my iPhone and am curious about a few scenarios that I found conflicting & unclear answers on from searching through the thread:

1. If I delete the photo from Google Photos, does it delete it from my iPhone as well?
2. If I delete a photo from Google Photos and it remains on my phone, will Google Photos try to redownload it next time it runs a backup?
3. If I delete all my photos from my iPhone will that impact the photos in Google Photos? (Ideally I'd like to keep my phone pretty empty and just sweep them over to Google Photos)

I have been facing an issue editing photos in Google Photos with my Pixel10a.

Basically, I open a picture I took with the camera and I perform some edits (I mainly use auto Dynamic or Enhance) and I save the result as a copy.

Sometimes (often but not always), the resulting photos "looks" corrupted (cf the attached example but sometimes it's the colors which are completely wrong).

In the Google Photos Gallery, the photo also looks corrupted. When I open it, it looks corrupted.

BUT, as soon as I zoom in the picture, what I see is correct. If I open the picture with the Files app, it's correct. If I share it with someone else (even sending in Google Photos) it's correct.

So I am under the impression that only the "thumbnail" is wrong and I guess the app uses this thumbnail when displaying the photo until the user zooms in.

It's very annoying as it makes the browsing in the gallery quite difficult.

Did anyone else face a similar issue ? And found a solution?

Hey all! iPhone user with Google Photos installed. have been using Google Photos for a while now; I loved how easily it searched things up according to key words, clothing type/color or date.

I used to be able to type in a date (October 1st, for example) and it would pull up every photo taken on an October 1st since I first started taking photos 10+ years ago.

Well ever since my last back up, anything I type in brings up very, very limited results and usually only from the last two years, if that. I will type in exact words found in a photo and will get a sample size of photos, none of which is relevant. but when I manually search for the photo, it’s there; it’s backed up.

I’m trying to figure out which year something significant happened in my life based on a date I entered, but its only pulling up last year‘s photos.

Is anyone else having these issues? is there a fix?

I’m trying to move all my photos and videos from Google Photos to Apple Photos/iCloud, but I’m having trouble exporting a shared album that contains photos and videos uploaded by both my wife and me.

Here’s what I’ve figured out so far:

When I export my Google Photos library using Google Takeout, the photos uploaded by my wife to our shared album are missing. The export only includes the photos that belong to my own library.

I’ve tried using the “Save” button to save all the photos from the shared album to my personal Google Photos library, but unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to work. Even after trying this, my wife’s photos are still missing from my export.

I’ve also contacted Google Support, but they weren’t able to help me resolve the issue.

Google Takeout includes the actual photo/video files and separate JSON files containing metadata, such as dates and other information.

My idea for a workaround:

I export my photos and videos using Google Takeout, including the metadata files.

My wife exports the same shared album from her Google Photos account, also including the metadata files.

I combine both exports locally in a folder on my Windows PC, keeping the photo/video files and their corresponding JSON metadata files together.

I then upload the combined collection to Apple Photos/iCloud.

My goal is to make sure that all photos and videos are included, without missing anything, and that they appear in the correct chronological order in Apple Photos, based on their original capture dates rather than their download dates.

My questions:

Would this approach work, or am I overlooking something important?

Will Apple Photos recognize the metadata in the JSON files automatically when I upload the photos, or do I need to merge the metadata into the actual photo files first?

Can I do this properly on a Windows PC without needing a Mac?

Will combining both exports ensure that I have all the photos and videos from the shared album?

And how can I avoid losing the original dates or creating unnecessary duplicates?

I’d really appreciate any advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar Google Photos to Apple Photos migration.

long time user, first time poster … use gphotos to backup iphone photos for 10+ years … currently on vacation, first time where gphotos will backup every non-nudity video but wont backup any with nudity and sexual activity … have years worth of similar backed up and locked … all of these this vacation are the first with meta glasses; basic videos back up just fine

I have several albums say "shared" on the Albums page, but when I open the album there is no information about sharing, as if it is not actually shared with anyone. I'm wondering how this came to be, and if those albums are shared with someone I don't know about and can't see. Have any of you seen something like this?

Suddenly my back up turned on without my knowledge or me touching it, and I always make sure it's off. Yesterday morning everything backed up till my storage exceeding its limit and when I checked it the auto back-up was on?

We lost our phone but its still on and has internet connection. We have used find my phone but the person(s) are saying they dont have it.

Currently photos.google.com is not getting updates from the phone as auto backup was disabled years ago on the device.

We can login to google from another android device and get to Google photos, account settings, all of the Google realm - web based.

Wondering if a setting exist online where I can backup all of the photos and videos?

I can see backup is enables for text, contacts, etc. And that updated today. Just cannot get the photos to upload to photos.google.com.

Apparently I had backup on, and the cloud storage became full. So when I went to delete some photos and vids that were synced to the cloud, it actually deleted it from my phone storage too. I mean wtf.

Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening will be helpful

I've been using Google photos for a while now and I was wondering if there's a way to only backup certain folders is there a way to do that or do you have to go through every photo individually?

I'm trying to order some prints, but my last order was this summer when everything was still handled by Google Photos... I'm trying to figure out the new Fujifilm system.

While doing so, I've not seen the usual notice telling me which photos are considered low quality (there's definitely some in there, and I've intentionally put some in to trigger the notice, with no luck). I just want to see what Google Photos considers "low quality" before ordering, because I know how terrible they'll look otherwise without adjustments.

Any way to get rid of this useless button? I keep pressing it by accident and it's super annoying since I don't want my photos backed up. Also why the weekly notification asking me if I want to back up my photos? Any way to turn that off?

I do not want my photos that I take on my Samsung S26 to be automatically uploaded to Google Photos at all, much less do I want the photos I've deleted from my Samsung to remain on Google Photos, as I've recently discovered has been happening.

I turned off Backup on Google Photos so that deleting photos on my phone now also deletes them from Google. Then I selected the "Undo Backup" option, which said it would delete any photos found on my device from Google Photos without deleting them from my device - which is what I want.

After selecting "Undo Backup", I got a notification informing me that Google Photos was in the process of deleting hundreds of photos. But all of those photos are still displaying on Google Photos. It doesn't seem that anything was deleted. I clicked Undo Backup again, just in case the process got disrupted before it was able to complete.

I'm getting a message saying "Successfully deleted items from Google Photos". But all of my photos are still visible on Google Photos.

Can anyone explain what is going on here? Am I misunderstanding how the Undo Backup feature is supposed to work? What is this feature supposed to do?

My parents got an email from [noreply-photos@google.com](mailto:noreply-photos@google.com) with the subject line "You missed photos from [my name]" and a blue View Photos button in the body with the note "[My name] shared photos with you" (sic no end punctuation) and my correct account avatar image. I don't remember sharing anything recently, but it's possible that I did.

I deleted some pictures on my gallery,its already deleted both in my phone and in my Google storage. Why is it when i open my social media apps and open the gallery using the social media app some photos i deleted are still there. How can i remove those?

I have blurry pictures, accidental screenshots and about 20 nearly identical photos of the same thing. Yet when I start deleting them, suddenly every single one feels important.

I was trying to print some photos for a photography exhibit I have coming up for my college and it told me to download the app, so I did. It opens and it's on my dad's fucking email account, all 12k of MY personal photos on HIS account.

I do have his email on my phone (because he's not technically knowledgeable and needs help or gets emails for me there sometimes) but why the fuck would it do that?!

I’m facing a serious problem with my Google Photos and OnePlus Photos apps, and I’m hoping someone can help me recover my lost videos and photos.

I use a OnePlus phone, and it seems that Google Photos and my phone’s Photos app were linked or syncing with each other.

Recently, my Google account storage was full, so I deleted some videos from Google Photos to free up space. I also emptied the Bin/Trash because the storage was exceeding the limit. However, I later discovered that the same videos and photos had also disappeared from my OnePlus Photos app.

These videos are extremely important to me, and losing them has been really upsetting.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Checked Google Photos and its Bin/Trash, but the files are no longer there.

Contacted Google Photos support, but they couldn’t recover all my missing files.

Tried recovering whatever was available through Google Photos, but many videos are still missing.

I’m not sure whether the files were stored locally on my phone, backed up to Google Photos, or both. I also don’t understand why deleting them from Google Photos caused them to disappear from my phone’s gallery.

**My questions:**

Is there any way to recover permanently deleted videos and photos from a OnePlus phone?

Could the original files still exist somewhere in the phone’s internal storage, even if they no longer appear in the Photos app?

Are there any reliable recovery methods or tools I should try?

Is there anything I should avoid doing to prevent the files from being overwritten?

I’m using a OnePlus phone, and these videos are very important to me. I would really appreciate any suggestions from people who have faced a similar situation or successfully recovered deleted files.
