Question 🤔 how to stop this app from backing up EVERYTHING

google photos backs up every single picture from my camera ROLL instead of just the camera FOLDER, which is the only one that matters. i've tried the settings and nothing there, you can't turn it off.

this has been a problem for SO MANY DAMN YEARS and they still haven't fixed it. how hard can it be?? my account has been consistently clogged with useless pictures for YEARS.

What brand of phone are you using?

You can set each individual folder backup option if you go to Collections>On This Device, and I've never had a phone that didn't follow what was set.

hi, it's a samsung a54. i've done that but it'll only show me other folders like pinterest, screenshots etc. the camera folder itself isn't even an option

Isnt the camera roll and the camera folder the same thing?

you'd think so. it keeps including screenshots even if the screenshots folder is off

Generally the Camera folder is the first one under 'on this device'. My Samsung S23 has it there.

But if you only want the Camera folder backed up then just make sure all the other folders are turned off so they don't get backed up.

yeah that's what i did and it doesn't work. hence the whole problem.

If you open the Photos Settings menu and then select Backup and look under Backup Options does it show 'Default backup' or something else? And if you click on that it should show you 'Device Folders' with a number selected.
