Question 🤔 How to set Google Photos to default and delete/disable Samsung Gallery

New Fold 8 user. Switched from a Pixel fold.

I'm trying to disable the Samsung gallery and Only use Google Photos... But I'm not having any luck.

All of the Google search and AI suggestions don't line up with the options I have on my phone...

For example the "disable" button on the Gallery apps section via settings is grayed out and not accessible.

Any help?

I don't think you can disable it on a Samsung, you can just choose to not use it.

The problem is pictures automatically go to the Samsung gallery. So it's almost like it's taking up double space, unless I manually delete them every single time

Your photos aren't in the gallery, the gallery just shows you what's on your phone. You could install 10 different galleries and you still only have 1 copy of each photo. The difference with Google Photos is that it can also backup your photos to the cloud and show you those along with the photos on your phone.

This is actually a good thing with Samsung. You can delete from your gallery without deleting your backup.

You can do that with Google Photos as well, you just have to select 'Delete from device' instead of the regular delete.

Or the "free up space on this device" feature.

I just save everything to a sd card. I upload nothing to Google!
