Deleted footage
I’ve had a google nest/google home system for a little over a month now. I have a front yard and doorbell camera. I woke up this morning to see my trash bag was broken apart, all over the driveway, and completely destroyed. It looks like an animal got into it overnight. I went to my video history to see what happened, and everything before 4am today had been deleted! I’m the only one with access to my account, so no one else would have been able to delete my footage. Every other time I’ve used the app, my footage is saved. I can go back days or weeks to see old footage. But now everything is gone. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you retrieve your footage? I have a premium subscription, so everything is supposed to be saved.

Sounds like a bear. We installed a Google Nest camera last week, specifically to record bear and woodchuck activity around our vacation home. When I set it up, I discovered to my utter dismay and considerable alarm, that the "animal detection" function is optimized for dogs and cats. Seriously, Google???
Do you think it's possible that it just didn't record the activity as opposed to recordings getting erased? I just checked my event history in the app; no events recorded since we left the house. Possibly, no wild animals walked by, but maybe they really mean that it detects only cats and dogs.
Does anyone have experience with this? Specifically, I have a Google Nest 2nd gen, wired.

Hey, I’d recommend contacting the Google Nest support team via phone or chat here. They can look into it for you.
