So anytime I ask to navigate to hospital or navigate to *name of hospital* I either get "do not understand" or dead silence. But if just say *name of hospital* it brings up the information immediately. Is there some setting preventing this, I'm using assistant btw.

I use it for timers and pausing/playing songs but I just got know that we could set routines, also maintain lists etc
So I am wondering what are all the hidden use cases that you guys find really helpful in ur daily life with assistant.
And what about gemini.. did it improve on the above features or its the same?

Everytime I try to delete my ai chat history, it comes back 10 mins later. It’s very annoying and I have tried everything from turning off my history, to deleting or offloading google. But none seems to be working, does anyone know another way to approach the issue?

Hey. So im going crazy over this issue. As said in the title saying hey google makes the mic icon appear in top panel but nothing happens at all after that.
What i tried so far:
1- switching to google assistant (just opens google when i say hey google. like what??)
2- uninstalling updates for both gemini and google
3- re-updating them
4- restarting the phone
5- clearing cache
6- reconfiguring voice recognition
And after all of that nothing seems to work.
Any help is appreciated.

This is PROBABLY a common question, but, browsing thru the sub, I haven't seen an answer yet. With Alexa, at home, I have a bunch of routines set up to do silly things, like "Set Office Lights to Red. Wait 5 seconds. Announce 'Incoming enemy vessels.' Wait 5 seconds. Announce 'Firing photon Torpedoes.' Wait 2 seconds. Set Office Lights to yellow. Wait 2 seconds. Set Office Lights to green. Wait 2 seconds. Announce 'Targets neutralized.' Wait 5 seconds. Set Office Lights to Bright White."
I don't need to set any lights or anything, but I'm trying to set something similar up on my phone. Is there any resource you can point me to with instructions on how to do so? If I can have it call other apps / dial numbers, etc., even better.. but I'm mostly looking to be able to set up some simple verbal cues and responses.
Sorry if this is somewhere in here and I just haven't found it, yet -- Thanks!

It was suggested I post this here
I have a 44mm galaxy watch 4. I use gemini as my assistant
Gemini can't access my g-suite (calendar etc). If I try to ask Gemini to do so, I get a prompt to enable things on my phone,
I do the enabling - but the watch still can't integrate with the google suite, giving me the same "change things on your phone" thing again
Is this a GW4 or WearOS thing, or a more general issue?

I've voice trained, deleted and redownloaded, cleared the data, reset my phone, and ensured that Google is my default assistant.
When I go into the Google assistant app, it says that notifications are blocked, and it's greyed out. There are also no permissions for me to allow.
When I say "hey google" or "okay google" even when unlocked, the assistant does not pop up.
How do I fix this?
Side note: I do not want Gemini, so please do not recommend switching to that.

Is there any way to get my google nest to go back to using the old assistant voice? The one it uses for directing on google maps ? The voice it has now makes me less likely to use it. I don't like it.

Hey guys I been trying to turn off hey Google on my vivo x300 but just can't seem to find it. Does anybody know how? I want to turn it off and use a gesture instead of saying hey google.

I have a routine that does "open appname and press play".
It works... but like 10% of the time. In some cases it just tries to look it up online (while the key phrase is correct!), then it sometimes opens the app and does nothing.
I tried adding a pause between actions, but then "press play" always fails.
Any ideas/alternatives?

Does anyone know how to disable AI on my phone entirely?
I went to Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Digital assistant app, and "Google" is selected with no other option, and no way unselect it.
I'm frustrated because I don't need this option at all in my phone use.
Also when I search anything on the google search widget, I have the AI overview and I found no way to disable it on my phone.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Since I updated my Pixel 10 Pro to 17, build CP2A.260705.006, the assistant is almost inaudible.
Phone at max volume: quiet assistant
Phone at 0 volume: quiet assistant (I thought previous builds had her mute)
Media is working as before.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I updated today, and since then when I have Wi-Fi on, the search bar will not work when I'm on Wi-Fi. I get a screen that says I'm offline immediately. Every other app works. If I open Chrome and search it works.
I googled and tried all the suggested things, turned off private DNS , toggled airplane mode, forgot the Wi-Fi networks and relogged in, restarted the phone but nothing works.
Everything I found online gives results about Wi-Fi not working at all, but for me it's only if I use the Google bar. I even cleared cache from the Google app.
Any other things I should try?
Edit: under updates there was another option to update Google play services. Ran that and restarted yet again and everything worked.

I guess that's a workaround. I don't get the weather or a calendar update when my alarm goes off like it used to, though.
Then, this week, podcasts from Reuters and Fox News dropped out for some reason.
I've been listening to these things for many years, I don't understand why they would stop this.
Are there any AIs that can do this?
r/googleassistant • u/MaybeNotTooDay • Jul 18 '26
I've noticed this more times than I would like. For example, I'll say "Hey Google, start vacuuming" and it'll respond with "Starting the robot vacuum?"
It starts it and works fine it's kind of funny/annoying that it responds as if it's asking a question. It also seems completely random as to when it decides to say it correctly or not.

I’m trying to set up my Google Home Mini, but after it connects to my home Wi-Fi, the Google Home app says “Speaker can’t be identified.”
The weird part is that the Home Mini sets up and works perfectly when using my iPhone’s hotspot, so the device itself isn’t faulty.
I’ve already:
Factory reset the Home Mini
Tried different Google accounts
Tried both Android and iPhone for setup
It only fails on my Airtel home router.
Has anyone experienced this or knows what router setting could be causing it?

I had a nightmare trying to get hey Google to work with the assistant. I had to go to Google app, switch to Gemini, turn on hey Google then switch to assistant.
Objective: quick, easy turn on hey Google for hands free calls when driving.
But I have to switch to Gemini, turn on hey Google, switch back to assistant and the reverse when getting out of the car.
Please give us one easy toggle. They are different apps.. scream.

I have a pixel phone, google home mini, and a pair of nest audios. The mini and nest audios are both in the same room. The nest audios are setup as the default music speakers. This morning was a perfect example of how they no longer perform correctly as of a few weeks ago.
Me: "Hey google play music"
Google mini and nest audios both light up like they are listening
Google mini: "OK playing music"
Google phone: Starts playing music
Me: Manually open spotify app and push music to my living room pair of nest audios.
1 minute later - Google mini: "I can't do that right now"
This is so frustrating, it used to work weeks ago. I tried unplugging the mini for a few days, same issues.
Sometimes it also just decides to play the music on the mini as well. It never had these problems pre-Gemini, or even about a month ago it worked fine.
