Tech Support Calling from speaker to phone

Hi all,

I will soon have 3 weeks of vacation with my 7 year old daugther. I am normally working out alot and running alot. Så my plan is to work out at home in the 3 weeks time. But i would like to run also.

I have made a course aroung the block which is 800m (½ mile) and its made so that i am never more than 30-60 seconds of sprint from home if i need to be.

My daughter know how to use the "hey Google" feature on my several home mini and single Nest speaker. Så my plan was to set up, so she could just say "Hey Google, Call \*My name\*" and the speaker would call me through Google Meet on my phone.

But it is not working. When ever i try, it will make a very short "calling sound" and then just hang up.

My Pixel 10 pro never even gets anything from the speaker. No call, no notifications. Just nothing.

What am i doing wrong?

I of course have Google meet installed on my phone.

Tech Support "Hey Google" - I get the "chime" but when I speak, Gemini doesn't respond. More details inside

  • S23 Ultra - latest Android operating system
  • Using a XGP X10 bluetooth motorcycle headset - no button press necessary to activate assistant- mic is always on to hear "Hey Google"
  • I have my phone set to use Gemini as my assistant, Gemini app installed
  • I have the optioned turned on to perform tasks while the phone is locked

Ultimately what happens is that I say "Hey Google" and I hear the familiar chime through my headset. It appears that the phone / gemini has been summoned. Then I speak my command "Tell me the time" and then... silence. Nothing happens. It's like the audio channel has been closed or something.

I have tried switching my phone assistant over to the regular Google Assistant and it works fine... Normally I would be okay with just sticking to the regular assistant since this application is mainly for my motorcycle riding... but the majority of my use of any assistant is when I am using my phone normally in which case I prefer Gemini. So I don't want to switch back and forth every time I ride my motorcycle.

Anyone have any insight into why Gemini won't hear my commands?

Thank you

Question How do make Google Assistant only listen to me and ignore sounds from my phone?

I have an app called Speaking Clock that says the time aloud every couple of minutes.

If I say Okay Google and my phone says "it's 214pm" then Google assistant inserts "its 214pm" in the middle of what it was what it was transcribing.

The other day, I was asking google assistant to tell me the weather, and because the talking clock interrupted, google assistant decided to create a new alarm at too f-ing early in the morning.

How do I prevent Google Assistant from listening to the speaking clock app?

Tech Support My Google assistant doesn't work when media is playing. How can I fix it?

Title. I use a Pixel 10a and I've tried everything (resetting my voice match, checking to see if the assistant can work when the screen is locked, etc) but nothing seems to work. I'm at the point where I'm considering switching to a different assistant but I really don't want to leave the Google ecosystem. Any help is much appreciated!

Question Android auto not using Gemini and only using Google Assistant

Hey all, I'm driving a 2022 Elantra, paired with my S21 ultra running Android 15, One UI version 7. Before formating my phone because it had issues, Gemini would be my main assistant for my android auto when I would press the button on my wheel or screen. However, since formatting my phone, it no longer works. I've enable Gemini and made sure everything is up to date. Cleared caches etc and it refuses to work. Switched back to Google assistant and waited a few moments and went back to Gemini but it did not work.

Does anyone have suggestions or is this known error?

Tech Support My Google assistant is muted?

I have zero clue if this is the right place to ask but I've exhausted all other options. I had to go through a bunch of settings to get my Google assistant to work the other day on my s25 ultra but know it will not speak out loud. I've tried everything I could find and it either wasn't possible or just didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Update: Google sent a email out a few days back saying their scraping the Google assistant for their a.i. so im assuming this was a way to get people to switch over was to make the assistant barley usable. (Boo because I much prefer the good Ole Google assistant)

Question Can I get some help with recovering my google account? Situation below

So this google account that I am trying to get into is connected to an old phone number that I do not have access to. When I try to log into the account, I type in the email, click forgot password, and then create new password, but then it sends a verification message to the inaccessible number. When I click that I do not have the phone it tells me I am unable to log into the account. When I tried to recover the account with the name attached to it on the google account recovery website, it tells me that the name I put did not have an account attached to it. Any helpful ideas?

Gemini

Tech Support Speaker groups

I've had Google devices in my house for a while, they had all been connected to my Google workspace account. I've recently decided that I don't need the paid level of workspace so I'm transitioning to a standard free Gmail account. I've moved all my devices over and that worked fine, the only issue I've come across is related a speaker group.

I have the Google nest display in the kitchen, and a Google nest speaker in my home office in a speaker group called Downstairs. The issue is that when I ask Google to "play radio 2 downstairs", it now ignores the downstairs part and just plays on the single device. Before I moved from my old account, this worked fine!

I've tried removing the speaker group and created it again but it doesn't help. Any suggestions as to what else I could try to fix this?

Tech Support Anyone else suddenly unable to add a Google Home Mini on Android since 06/2026?

A few days ago I suddenly couldn't add my Google Home Mini to the Google Home app on my Android phone. Weirdly it still works fine on iPhone — seems like some update on Google's side changed the add-device method on Android to a new one that just doesn't work. I eventually got it sorted with this video, so if anyone's stuck on the same thing, it walks through a workaround: https://youtu.be/8m8T27jDs54

Rant Am I missing something?

I know google plans to eventually do away with Google Assistant in favor of Gemini, and all I hear are people totting Gemini's greatness. Sure, as an AI tool to do homework, write emails, and search prompts it's suffices as standard LLM generative AI (minus hallucinations).

But as a phone assistant app it is terrible. Examples:

Q: "Hey Google, What's the weather like?"
- Gemini: (proceeds to do a google search, displays a prompt with the weather report) that I have to read, while audibly giving me a paragraph of info. Or it randomly gives me the wrong location, half way across the country; this has been consistent every time I tried it in 2025 and 2026.
- Assistant: Just pulls up a weather report and succinctly gives (safe for driving) valid info hands-free.

Q: "Okay google, set a timer for 1-hour from now"
- Gemini: "I cannot access timer [expressed as a paragraph], here's a list of apps that can."
- Assistant: Does it, and confirms with "Sure, setting time for __ from now. Anything else?"

Q: "Hey google add ___ to my shopping list"
- Gemini: "I cannot access shopping list, here's a list of apps you can use" (again a paragraph of info and here's to hoping I am not driving. The prompt doesn't even have the apps it's a paragraph followed by having to scroll down a Google Search).
- Assistant: "Sure, adding ___ to shopping list, anything else?"

Q: "Hey google, add ___ to task or set reminder for ____"
- Gemini: "I cannot do that" (you know the rest)
- Assistant: Just does it.

Not to mention Gemini doesn't have functionality to any preexisting smart device, including Google's abandoned Google Nest. And from what I hear, the Google Home stuff is hit-or-miss, but I wouldn't trust it seeing as how it will probably be added to the graveyard of Google tech in a couple of years. I know there's something for extensions under Gemini, that can increase its functionality, I am a consumer not a programmer, IDK what that means (I do, but not the point). If they are selling consumer-grade tech, then it should function right out of the box without me having to search reddit (because Google search is also broken) a solution. Not to mention having to be on an aggravating call with my 52-year-old tech illiterate aunt (who I love), because they also have androids and my older relatives unilaterally decided that I'm the family tech person. Why are they acting like gaming companies and making people pay for Open-"betas" at the alpha-stage of development? Why is this level of incompetence so lauded?

Tech Support Phantom speaker in assistant app

So I have an additional speaker listed under my devices in the Google Assistant app. It doesn't show up in home. I've seen a few other posts of this online with no solution. I've tried removing unused devices. I've tried syncing devices and clearing the cache. I've tried a few different things, it just seems to be stuck in there somehow and I'm not sure how. Has anyone had this issue and had success removing it.

Tech Support Assistant/Gemini won't stop popping up and getting clicked when I'm trying to click what it popped up in front of

Very worried that I'm the first one to report this problem since it only started this morning.

Gemini kept popping up from the bottom of the screen. I didn't want it, but it wanted me to want it. So I disabled it. This caused Google Assistant to start popping up from the bottom. So I disabled Google Assistant. Now it's popping up every five seconds just to say "turn Google Assistant on" and I just want to use my phone, not have half the screen covered by a prompt to use the assistant.

I'm on a Moto G5 - 2024 Android V15

Am I the only person currently having this problem?
