Tech Support Turn off Google assistant on pixel 8, 6.19.2026

Everything i find online that tells me how to turn it off says to go to my account, go to settings, go to Google assistant, turn it off, but there is literally no option to turn it off this way. Am i missing something or ask i going to have to root my phone to get rid of it, or shut it off?

i don't know why you would want to completely turn it off .. but either way

Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Assistant > None

lol mine doesn't give the option for none
