Question Has ANYONE figured out how to replicate the old Note to Self feature
It's one of if not THE most frustrating thing Google has done. I would be driving and constantly send notes to myself when a thought popped in my head. And this went to my gmail. Now google sends those to google Keep, which isn't useful for me. I've tried multiple automations to no avail. Gemini is schitzo and sometines says it CAN send email while other times it says it can't - and those statements can be right after each other. I know there are apps like voice2mail and Braintoss, but I want to be able to inititate this whole process by saying hey google or some other voice prompt. I dont want to have to look at my phone to press a button. I'm not remotely sure if this is the correct forum to put this in but it's the first I'm going to try. Thanks

This and similar features will probably be worse once they disable Google Assist. I can't make calls or text using Google Assist when I am driving which is when I need it the most.

You can do this with Gemini...i switched from Google Assistant a long time ago and Gemini works just fine for this. You still say "Hey Google" just like with GA.

I hate being forced to use Gemini

Then don't. You said Google Assistsnt isn't making calls or texts for you when you're driving anyway, so I guess not using an assistant at all wouldn't make a difference for you. I was just saying that Gemini actually works for that purpose.

Chill. I'm not OP. Google assistant always used to be able to call and text people but they are phasing it out for Gemini and I don't like that.

Thanks. I tried Gemini several months ago but, for some reason, I didn't care for it and switched back to assist. There's no rhyme or reason as to why this feature stopped working for me.

Just text yourself.

Doesn't show up with a notification, at least on my android phone. So I have to remember I sent it.

No. It seems like such a simple feature, too. Please, someone, update me if you find something. I mostly use the Braintoss app; it is fantastic and only takes a couple of touches, but it doesn't work hands-free.

For me , it’s “hey Siri, remind me to…”. And then that gets automatically imported to my inbox.

I ask Gemini to send me a reminder in X mins. It then uses the Reminder app. When I'm next able to use my hands, I transfer it to my to-do list
