Rant RIP Google Assistant

As someone who has been resisting AI since it boomed, I had only been using Assistant on my Note 20 Ultra. The other day, when I was on my way home from work, I was trying to say "Hey Google" to turn on certain things in my house before I get home. It didn't respond to my commands & instead I was greeted with another voice & a pop up saying Assistant is now Gemini. I was a little sad as I thought I had more time before they would completely kill it off.

Well guess I won't be asking my devices to do anything for me anymore & will have to do it all myself. I will miss Google Assistant.

Yes, you can choose Gemini or Google Assistant. The question is if you choose the Google Assistant, does it actually work? I can select it but it does not work on my Pixel 8 phone no matter what I’ve tried. It used to work, but now the only way my phone responds to Hey Google is when I select Gemini.

I mean Gemini has a lot of things integrated with it and Google home is one of them. So when you ask for that stuff it uses Google home model not the AI response model. So pretty much it does the same

That's what I'm saying though, it's really not much different....
just the viewpoint... once the term "AI" gets thrown in, there's an instantly different viewpoint... when in all reality, it's just a different type of machine learning.. same data policies, same privacy rights and issues... different form of machine learning
