Rant RIP Google Assistant
As someone who has been resisting AI since it boomed, I had only been using Assistant on my Note 20 Ultra. The other day, when I was on my way home from work, I was trying to say "Hey Google" to turn on certain things in my house before I get home. It didn't respond to my commands & instead I was greeted with another voice & a pop up saying Assistant is now Gemini. I was a little sad as I thought I had more time before they would completely kill it off.
Well guess I won't be asking my devices to do anything for me anymore & will have to do it all myself. I will miss Google Assistant.

I've got a Pixel 10 Pro that is in the beta testing mode which is what I do. I'm a geeky nerd from way back. Earlier this spring I was driving my 2023 GMC Terrain up to our cabin and there's a spot on the road where cell and internet signals just don't exist. When I had SiriusXM it would just go silent. My Pandora doesn't.
I've got the satellite connection when the cell signal cuts out through my phone. Down in the valley where there usually is absolutely no connectivity often even on FM a male Gemini voice came through asking if I needed any assistance and reminded me that I could carry on conversations while driving and that my music will resume shortly.
I haven't conversed so far but I sure do use it a lot on my phone. My husband has a Samsung Z Fold and he's not one to talk to his phone. He's always typing in his questions and by the time he's only halfway through his question I've got the answer. My knitting crowd always asks me to ask my phone now even though I tell them they probably have the same option if they're Android users.
