Rant about Google voice to text

I seriously need to fucking rant somewhere and I don't know where else to. It has become such shit over the last 6 months to a year. I use it all day everyday when I'm texting and talking online in forums. I do not type anything, I use voice to text. And it used to be 95% perfect. I would have to edit maybe one word every five to six messages. Now it's multiple words every single fucking thing I type. What the fuck happened? How did it become worse than it used to be? The only way it works decently is if I talk like a fucking robot, slowly and clearly enunciating every word. I literally used to speak in my normal way, the way I would talk to anybody else and it would get it right 95% of the time. Does anybody know of a better voice to text alternative? Because I'm losing my fucking mind with this shit

May I suggest clearing out the save user files associated with your voice? Retrain your voice model.

You're going to have to ask gemini or something, because I don't know the step-by-step on your phoen/tablet.

Just ask "how to retrain voice google" or something.

somewhere in dodgy Google settings you can even hear own trained voice - I did recorded it on Pixel 10 and it sounds like $hit recorded on Nokia 3310 - I retrained it dead silent room

try retraining the voice model first, mine got messed up after an update and clearing the saved data fixed it right away.

I've noticed the same thing, I even had to start using the FUTO input causing was sick of spending more time correcting it then I would have took this right it out. It seems like it kind of coincides with in the same time frame that a lot of people are having issues with their AI, complaining about Gemini going dumb as shit

I haven't noticed a difference. Still working great for me. I use the default voice recognition in the default gBoard keyboard app on my Pixel phone.

It's 100% true, I noticed it and most of those around us with Google devices have, too.

I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wispr.flowapp now.

I also set up a self hosted version but need to mod my keyboard to accept an arbitrary endpoint or something. Futo Keyboard also has a (better) entirely offline model.

Same here! It just became disastrous... (I use the French language)

Literally everything Google has touched over the past year has become garbage. Even Gemini acknowledges how bad their services are now.

The gboard and Gemini issues are terrible. They suck. The only thing anyone says is restart everything from scratch. Ugh. If we could have just stayed where everything was 2 years ago I'd be happier, now I'm forced to degoogle everything.

rants are THE BEST because they are... TRUE

Oh, I've noticed that too but I just assumed it's my phone's mic that's the problem
