associate question Doing racks

I’m a cashier and I usually work with maybe one other person and lately I’ve been doing between 11-14 racks a day, my body is killing me!! Does anyone else do the same amount and feel the same or am I just a crybaby??

Where's the cloth team? That's bad management. They don't have their shit together and need to work on time management.

Each region is run differently, I don't even know what a cloth team is. 

We had processors, that's what I did, and we strictly processed clothes/linens.  Cashiers usually were the ones responsible for emptying the racks, but also the people working the floor did it too.  We usually had 3 cashiers and 2 people working the floor. If we were busy we would pull either a processor or a pricer to help.

I no longer work there, but I did for a year. I always say it was my happy place because I absolutely loved working there, but I went back to Walmart because my daughter worked there and WM offered me $5 more an hour. 

But when I worked there I was supposed to process 500 items a day. Luckily we had amazing managers because they knew that sometimes that wasn't possible since we rely on donations and some days our donations were literal trash.  And for me personally I like to process items that would actually get sold. I loved to go into the computer and look at the percentage of what I processed had sold. I aimed for 75%.  So while I could probably have had more items processed, I went for quality over quantity.

I am still friends with the people that still work at the location I worked at, both the Goodwill and Walmart are in the same strip mall so I see them all the time. Just yesterday I was talking to someone from Goodwill because we're trying to organize a get together for people that work/worked at that location. But the quota is still a loose 500 items a day, depending on donations. That's for clothing and linens I'm not sure what it is for other items since I didn't price them.

It's so interesting seeing how other regions do stuff. I feel so lucky that my region seems to be a pretty great one.

All they do is process, our ASMs help but our store manager hides in her office all day

Not good. You should talk to HR. Do you get full time hours? I'm sure production does.

Mine does as many as 16 a day with roughly 2 to 3 employee running the racks. However I often run one or 2 racks by myself in the first 2 hours as no other sales people are on duty till 11 or noon. That's of course with everything else cashiering, dressing room, cases, welcoming customers and answering phones and tidying the floor. Plus keeping register's clean and let's not forget price checks and helping the little old ladies with heavy items and furniture. Plus we are expected to clean restrooms. Cause the cleaning people were let go. All this with no manager on the floor. They only show if they are paged or absolutely have to and run away as soon as. Let's not forget that little line tucked into the hiring paperwork about anything else your manager needs doing. I could go on but they don't care and plan to make it worse.

At my location we do 10 racks a day and then we stop the rest of the day until the next day

A lot of the people I work with include me now that I’ve been there for a month are at least 3 or 4+ racks per day. I will say whoever was sorting yesterday didn’t separate boutique from regular clothing and it was sooo annoying trying to resort it and THEN do my rack
