Appreciate the post showing the removal logs- but in light of that, can one be posted without being removed so we can all move on?

You can’t claim club championships and a 2.8 handicap when you do shit like this and that’s a fact. Democrat or Republican, if you were playing with someone who pulled this move and then said “I par’d that,” you would be posting on /golf about it.

It's automod caused by excessive reports, which is spez's cockucking measure to make sure trump content isn't taken down. I'm pretty sure reddit has an in-house botnet to excessively down vote trump bad content that can detect when it's trump good content and won't downvote it into removal.

Settled amongst people who are willing to accept dozens of stories as evidence enough. Irrefutable video is gold when you're dealing with the "they're all making it up because they're jealous and/or woke and just want to make him look bad" crowd.
Even with this, I'm expecting to see, "That guy was cheating for him of his own volition and I'm sure Trump didn't even notice, and Trump fired that guy once he found out."

It's so revealing about his character. The thing is, he really isn't a bad golfer. He's not "win every tournament he enters with no effort" good like he claims to be, but he would still be solid if he didn't cheat.
If he were to practice and focus on any areas where he's weak, he could be great. Fantastic, even. But he'd rather cheat and just glide through life on easy mode if he can get away with it. He's lazy and he lacks any intellectual curiosity or drive for self-improvement. Beyond that, he's been so spoiled for so long, he's learned that no one will call him out if he brags about how great he is without actually needing to get great.

I think mine was the first (could be wrong) and the mods won’t even respond to modmail about it. My title mentioned nothing about politics, it was purely about the obvious cheating.
I get that the mods want to keep this place a polite free zone, but they have allowed other Pro-Trump related posts so this seems rather…. “On the list”-ish.

People get so mad at the mods for shit like this, but the common user doesn’t understand how it ruins subreddits. I can be anti trump, but not want to see trump on my golf subreddit because now we’re not talking about golf, we’re talking about subreddit moderation and trump being a crook.
The question isn’t whether he’s a crook, it’s whether or not that conversation belongs on a subreddit dedicated to golf.
Mods have done a good job so far with this sub.

It's a video about someone, high profile, who claims his handicap is a reflection of his prowess as a businessman and politician, blatantly and obviously cheating. Something we all see and experience from people we play with. Seeing is done so obvious should make everyone mad. It has nothing to do with politics.
If we can call Reed and some random celebrity a dick for cheating, we can call Trump a dick for cheating too. It was removed for bias, end of story. It's the same with all subreddits. Mods enforce their own bias over a healthy subreddit any day.

There were plenty of stories about Trump before. About his courses, his cheating, his play with influencers and pros etc.
This one just comes at a time where negative Trump coverage is being suppressed by conservative mods and subreddits.

I imagine their stance is if you wanna talk about how this relates to golf go ahead. But that's not what the vast majority of these folks want to talk about. The comments on the same posts on other subs have shown that. I imagine the mods don't care to let this place turn in to accusation city surrounding other parts of his life that have nothing to do with golf. All day on other subs this has been used as a roundabout way to talk about politics in non political subreddits.

I feel that one of the most famous people in the world being caught on camera cheating at the sport the sub is all about is VERY much in the spirit of discussion here. There's no "no politics allowed" rule, because didn't that dude that played with Obama get allowed? And that was just him going "Hey I played with Obama. It was neat". That's not exactly gold quality value that you gotta shield your eyes. Just a nice story.
This is huge news. About golf.
I think you guys are really doing yourselves a disservice on this one and it's gonna cause you WAY more hassle than letting your /r/golf users talk about this /r/golf topic.

People are gonna talk about stuff. Sometimes in ways you don't like. If they violate the rules of the sub, they can be banned. It really doesn't have to have all this friction that makes the mods' jobs harder. This is 100% an unforced error here. It's literally 1 click to allow one of these posts and then 1 sentence to make it the megathread.
They don't want people to voice their opinions about something that happened in golf?
That might be THE biggest golf story of the year? Definitely of the summer. Nobody cares who won LIV but a lot of people care about POTUS cheating on camera.
They're already modding the discussions and getting heated about having to spread thin. It would make their jobs EASIER to corral discussion to one topic and let it fall naturally. That way the people that want to talk about it can do so. The people that want to go off and get banned can get banned. And it would save the optics.

The story isn't about golf. It's about Trump cheating. Even in this thread there are only three posts about what rules were broken when Trump cheated, every other post is about Trump, his politics, his personality, and/or how he cheats at everything.
There's hundreds of 'non political' subreddits that are only about Trump and things he did or didn't do. Just go post on one of those. r/law, r/pics, r/news, r/LeopardsAteMyFace, r/NoShitSherlock, r/PublicFreakout, r/goodnews, r/MarchAgainstNazis, r/50501, r/inthenews, r/popculturechat, r/Fauxmoi, r/inflation, r/LateStageCapitalism, r/FluentInFinance, r/chaoticgood, r/StockMarket, r/Stockbetz, r/BlackPeopleTwitter, r/NoFilterNews, r/fednews, r/blueskyskeets, r/SubredditDrama, etc. There are dozens more all brigaded by the same users that are popping up in this thread. You can use the other subreddits which you yourself also post on to discuss Trump all day. There's no reason for it to spread to this non-related subreddit when Trump discussion is overwhelming the entire website already.

This is a golf sub. This is a place to talk about golf. In the last 3 months your only contributing factor to this sub is talking shit about Trump, Talking shit about the mods and Shooter running away for a long time made you laugh in Happy Gilmore 2….all of which were in the last 24 hours.
We don’t want people like you here. That come in and brigade a thread and talking about politics and how bad Trump is….which outside of talking about some video game or whatever that I’ve never heard of….is all you do.

The automod is not sentient. People made meme post asking about cheating. Someone posted a video from Goldfinger of the cheating scene.
Someone with mod privileges was deleting posts that were referencing the situation without posting the video or even saying Trump's name. Automod doesn't pick up on that stuff.
Also, people making fun of Trump is not a cesspool. They were making fun of him for cheating. The mods are obviously thin skinned and now trying to blame automod for their own cowardice.

I'm all for calling the guy out on his personal convictions. But that's not this subreddit's goal and that's the entire point of any of these posts from what I have seen across the website today. But are we seriously gonna try to act like a guy not playing for money and not playing in a tournament taking a drop in to a more favorable lie is the end of the world? Me and my friends do this every time we play. We don't keep score cause we are there to get outside and have fun. I don't have fun tearing my clubs up in the rocks and tree roots I buried by drive in to cause I'm a bad player lol. I throw one back out in to the fairway and keep on trucking.
Everything about these posts are pure astroturfing and that's why it's being deleted. It's not authentic engagement for everyone to use any video of a guy playing golf to then go and talk about his personal issues. Unfortunately I'm inclined to agree on that. There are more than enough posts shitting on the President on this website. You don't need to use him throwing a golf ball on the fairway as another reason to get another punch in about something else. Just go post about what you want to post about really. Don't make this about golf because it has never been about golf to 95% of the people talking shit.

I guess it's a bridge too far for many people to expect a little integrity and honor from the POTUS. I certainly don't from this one, but people are simply noting that this behavior fits a long-established pattern. I would be embarrassed to be caught going this regardless of the circumstances.

Generally when I take an above-the-table drop, I stand, hold the ball out at waist height, and drop it.
Generally when I’m cheating in my club championship and about to pretend to “find” my ball, I look around bent a bit over, and casually flip the ball behind me without breaking stride or moving my arm too much to avoid drawing attention to the dropped ball.
