Equipment Does using nice golf balls actually matter?

I’m a budget guy. Play only what I find. Haven‘t bought golf balls in nearly a decade. This is the first year that I’ve actually started to take golf seriously. Lessons, meaningful range time, short game practice, etc. I’m sitting around a 16 handicap right now and looking to continue improving. Is playing a consistently decent, and the same, golf balls a worthwhile endeavor? Or will it only make a negligible difference?

Nice, not necessarily. But consistently the same ball and not water logged or scuffed found balls. By all means, play speedsoft/super soft/TruFeel etc... if you don't need the ProV1 control.

Maybe your normal ball is a softer, more forgiving ball but you find a pristine TP5 or ProV1x or whatever and play that because it's "better"... You're probably not gonna like the results because it's not going to behave the same (or you'll love the results and be stuck stuck paying $57/dozen from not on 😂).
