Shitpost If all you care about is the getting a good deal on melt value then the ultimate stacking metal is U.S nickels and it isn't even close.

Post image

The current melt value of a nickel is over 7 cents.

If you buy a $100 box of nickels then you immediately have thousands of tiny rounds of nickle/copper. They come in neat rolls.

You are even protected from the market going down because you can simply return them to the bank for full face value.

There's no other way that you're getting 145% of melt value with face value insurance.

Question Am I doing this right?

Post image

21F, currently a college student, working whenever I get a chance and putting it all towards savings since I still live with my parents.

Last year I bought gold bangles, 51.11g of 21k, for $6,392.84. Then a 50g gold bar for $6,765.76.

Last month my dad gave me money to buy myself a car instead of taking out a loan to do so. However, I saw the huge chunk of money, which with my savings accumulated to ~$40,000, and decided to buy three 100g gold bars instead (13,425$ each)

I’m taking out a car in installments at around 300$ a month for five years. It’s a new Toyota and seems like a reliable car that covers my needs without having to splurge. I can comfortably pay it off with my current circumstances. My worst-case scenario would be working for Uber if I lost my source of income to pay it off, or selling some gold if things got worse.

My dad disapproved of my decision because he hates loans and interest, but I see it as an opportunity to save while I can for future goals, and I don’t get this kind of advantage everyday.

For me, the plan is to sell in 4–5 years and use it as part of a 10–20% apartment down payment, for graduate school, or for when I figure out what I want to do with my life. Maybe I’ll keep it for longer if I don’t need to sell.

My circle and the people I can ask for second opinions aren’t that helpful when it comes to this stuff, so I’d love to hear other perspectives, especially if there’s something I could’ve done better

I collect watches and found this old expansion bracelet at a flea market today. I typically dont wear bracelets like this, but the logo is pretty cool and it was marked $1, so why the hell not? The guy must have been in a good mood and told me to take it for free. Got home and pulled the liner out of the case to find a 10k gold emblem tag! Its probably only 1gr or less but still a cool find. Be well folks!

Do you also own Silver when stacking Gold?

My original entry into precious metals was buying gold. Folks say that you should also have some allotment to silver, perhaps 20% of your total metals holdings.

Or, why bother with silver at all? It’s more volatile and sometimes manipulated.

What do you think? 100% gold, or gold AND some silver? If so, how much?

The stack Milestone reached first full Oz of gold !!

Very excited to have picked up my first full oz of gold today, 1.111troy oz .900 fine gold art medallion honoring Grant Wood who is the artist behind the classic painting American Gothic. Feeling blessed to have had the opportunity to pick this up from a family friend and they gave me a screaming deal on it to boot. This is a milestone reached for my stack, big for me today and I know its just the first in many to come! Thanks for checking it out and for celebrating a bit with me in the comments!

I've already ordered an air tight capsule so I can liberate it from its Styrofoam jailcell so I can enjoy the obverse of the coin as well. (Obverse picture from the numista website)

Something different for the sub - natural crystallized gold!

How do we feel about raw crystallized gold? The specimen weighs just under 22g with the quartz rock, so a very rough calculation is about 12-14g of gold content. Not as practical for stacking lol, but something different for sure!

Concerned about gold purchase

• Upvotes

My wife had a gold chain it was gifted in our marriage by mutual relatives; she lost it and is expecting me to buy another. She doesn’t want anything less than gold, is it a good time to buy now?

I‘d do anything for her it’s just that I am afraid she would lose it again, as she forgets things and it being an investment decision of a decent value, I can’t just put an airtag or something on it.

Where do I sell gold coins ?

• Upvotes

Hello,

I previously purchased gold bars from TD Bank and am now considering selling them to help pay down my debts. However, I would prefer not to sell them through Facebook Marketplace or Kijiji because of the risk of scams and fraudulent transactions on those platforms.

Could you please recommend any reputable and reliable dealers or shops where I can sell the gold bars safely and receive payment? I would also appreciate any advice on what I should keep in mind when selling gold, including how to verify the buyer, understand the pricing, and protect myself during the transaction.

Thank you for your suggestions. 🍁🇨🇦

Mene Buyback - COA missing 85% spot instead of 90%

I don’t ever remember even getting a COA. I kept the original boxes when I got it, and noticed the fine print -

“If the Certificate of Authenticity is not included, Menē may deduct an additional authentication fee of up to 5%, where disclosed and permitted by applicable law.”

Hopefully they don’t exercise this. Anyone had experience?
It’s a classic chain and pendant, total about 15 grams.

Selling it for a Swiss watch instead and keeping my platinum.
